I'm in the process of doing a complete site makeover. Needless to say, home decorating isn't exactly my "cup of tea". The site has around 300 pages and has been ranked #1 in Google for around 2 years for the KW "country home decorating and has a PR3. I've been pretty busy submitting to niche directories and doing some social networking for the site.

Ok, for my proposal...hmmm, hope this is kosher...

I don't like the idea of exchanging links with sites. I think it is a total waste of time to have a page or more dedicated to outgoing "Links" to other sites.

I feel like the SE's will give more weight to a single link on a content page that points to a site of authority on the KW.

Like I said before, home decorating is not my niche, this being said, coming up with good content for this site is a problem with me. Plus, between work and a few other sites I'm working on, I just don't have the time.

My Proposal:

There are many talented people who either blog or have a site related to Home & Garden, crafts and DIY home projects. We all want the same thing. Traffic, Strong SE Placement and Backlinks.

If anyone is interested in promoting their blog or website, here's my idea. If you would like to write an original article(s) related to your niche, one that would be relevant to my site. I will use your original content to build a page with a link back to your blog or website. This way your link will have more authority and weight, you are promoting your blog or website. You will receive traffic from visitors that click your link. I will place a link on my home page to your article page. The Search Engines are more likely to credit your link as a Back link, thus helping your placement in their listings and I get "Content". It a win-win proposition for all.

In the past I've submitted articles to Buzzle, ezine articles, Isnare and such. I've had thousands of sites that have copied and pasted my articles with a link to my sites on their blog or website. Google algo's are hip to this lame attempt at site promotion and none of these have ever been credited as a backlink by Google. In addition, all these folks copying your articles just results in a heap of duplicate content that hurts a whole lot more than the dribble of traffic you receive.

These may be helpful or not. You'll have to do some exploration. There are over 200,000 BC members and most never post to the forum.
