Useful article. I'm still newly submerged in social networking and starting to learn how to best use it. A branding tool I enjoy using are services that engage readers for feedback, like rateitall.com and skribit.com . Two-way communication is important to me for my branding.

Some good tips there! Screen names are certainly a challenge, and for folks with multiple blogs, I think it becomes more so.
I'd actually be interested in hearing from other folks who have added blogs later, but their screen name reflects only ONE of their blogs. Do you feel it's an issue for your newer brands?-
Nope- I already have two, which are keeping me merrily busy.
The topic comes up because I found, when I started creating the second blog, that my username wasn't going to work for the non-thrifting humor blog...
I was using that name on my Blogger profile, and all that was tailored to the thrift blog too. So it caused me to have to register under an entirely different Blogger profile for the second blog.
I think if I'd known when I started that I'd eventually be blogging in two very separate niches, I'd have chosen a more universal username.

Excellent tips which I'm going to use - thank you.
Okay, so can you all be honest and let me know if my name and avatar are forgettable? Lucyvp stands for Lucy Van Pelt, my favourite character.
If I'm forgettable I'll have to think about changing me into the whole new me

@Lucyvp: Your avatar is very unique and memorable. My wife (Truthoughts) and I really like it and you've got a good thing going there. However, whenever we think of your avatar, the name Lucy sticks, but sometimes we forget the "vp".
Having said that, as long as you continue to use "Lucyvp" across every social network and bookmark site, you will have success. The important thing is that if someone, from BC let's say, tries to find you at another location, will they be able to pull you up there by "Lucyvp"?

@thegoodknife: Thank you for the promotion. I am glad that everyone is getting some good tips here.
Thanks to all, so far, for the kind words.
Thank you to RobertStevenson for submitting this to Reddit. May the blessings of the Golden Rule shine brightly upon you my friend. -
Dang, I missed this thread - must be that time-difference thing. Yeah the post was great and I even got a little plug "woo hoo" - I did the Google test and barryfromtexas is all me except for some guy on Facebook -
I never even thought of "branding before"
(edited) I didn't even know BC had a blog - yes I just now saw the little link at the bottom of the page!
