Whose your favorite under-rated actor/actress?
Whose your least favorite over-rated actor/actress.
My fav underrated actress is Angela Bassett. I think she's pretty much been incredible in ever role I've seen her in.
My least favorite overrated actor...I have two who I equally dislike, Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

My favorite underrated actor: Johnny Depp - I think he's tremendously talented.
My favorite underrated actress: Glenn Close - I think she gets stuck in roles that don't suit her. But tied close with Tracy Ulman - She's Amazingly adept at changing - chameleon-like.
My least favorite overrated actor: Ray Liotta - dude never changes
My least favorite overrated actress: Julia Roberts - She is the same person in EVERY movie, with the exception of only ONE movie. -

overrated actor: Tom Cruise
overrated actress: Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba
underrated actor: Denzel Washington, Gary Sinise
underrated actress: Marissa Tomei, I really like Angela Bassett too and I don't think she gets enough credit. -
Underrated actress: Patricia Clarkson.
She is in her late 40's, early 50's and is amazing in every movie and tv show I have ever seen her in. I recently saw her as one of the MILF's on a SNL skit with Susan Sarandon, Justin Timberlake, and Andie Sandberg. It was a follow up music video to "Dick in a box". It cracked me up that an actress known for very serious, indie dramatic roles could laugh at herself.
Overrated actress: Nicole Kidman. Stiff, boring, robotic in every single movie with the exception of "To Die For"
Underrated Actor: Joaquin Phoenix. This guy is an amazing, amazing, amazing actor but because he's totally nuts, he's not as famous or as successful as he should be.
Overrated actor: Will Smith. Seriously? Who watches this guy? Apparently millions of people who are not me. -

Overated:
Tom Cruise. I've never seen the appeal.
Julia Roberts. Is always Julia Roberts. And you can always count on the Julia Roberts' laugh in almost every movie. -
Overrated: Brad Pitt. I appreciate that he tries to do diverse character roles like in "Burn After Reading"...
But to me, there's no sense of realism with anything he does-- it's either really broad over-the-top, or it's not acting so much as accessorizing.
I know people like him. I appreciate that they do. I just can't connect with his work.-
Yes!
It reminded me of "Legends of the Fall", "River Runs Through It", "Thelma and Louise" all those movies he did when he was really young and beautiful.
Actually, I read a review by a critic that said that was one of the ways that movie was effective. That scene drew upon our collective pop memory of Brad when he was young.
They are using that age regression a lot in movies now. They did it in Wolverine and again in Terminator. -
Brad Pitt, is actually an awesome actor. I loved him in that diamond movie where he played the unaudable Irish guy...hilarious. I think people are distracted by his cutie pie good looks or the fact that himand his lady are all over the mags...but when you break it down, he's awesome to watch, he was really good in the Benjamin Button movie..

Under-rated actors: Albert Finney (I've always liked him), Alan Rickman, Gerard Butler (love the roles he chooses. My favorite Scot.)
Over-rated actors: Tom Cruise (agreeing with virtually everyone here), Kenneth Branagh (who knew his role in Harry Potter would be so, well, autobiographical?), Matthew McConaughey
Under-rated actress: Laura Linney
Over-rated actresses: Gwynneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson (she's just a mess), Anne Hathaway -

Actually, as an actor, he's not so bad. I've never thought of him as a heartthrob, but his acting can be quite good.
Think of What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Departed. I just saw Body of Lies, and his performance was pretty good.
He's one of those that is improving with age, I think. But if all you've seen is Titanic, I can see why you wouldn't like him.
