Seems some may have lost a little rank. They are not popular blogs though. Strange. I wonder if it is possible to get a PR 5 on any blog?

My 80s music blog has a PR 3 now. It is pretty good. The 60s and 70s music blogs have a PR 2 only. The 80s blog gets more hits though.

i think it is posible to get even higher than pr5 on blog...

blog is like every other website for google, maybe even better coz blog engines like wordpress are realy good html/css with all standards, what makes it easier to make higher position in google.

i even saw some company websites builded on wordpress engine.

anyway, my blog got from PR 0 to PR 3 - 3 months old

My blog is 4 months old and the blog went from a PR 0 to a PR 5
so yeah it's possible for a blog to get a PR 5 or Higher

The little PR ticker for google i have on the bottom of my site goes X/10.

So I suspect a 10 is max... dunno how many if any have attained that though.

I used to think 7 was the max.

Looks like I had a signifigant change in my page ranking as well.

    I went from a PR-4 to a.... PR-4?

    8^)

My PR 4 blog has the most links on my blogroll. So maybe that is key to getting a high rank.

I don't know if you get placed higher in searches for having a higher PR. I don't think it can hurt though. More people will want to link to you if you have a higher PR.

Actually.. from what I've been reading, you don't want tooooo many links. I forget what it's called, but "over linking" (as I'll call it for now) was supposed to have a negative effect of some sort.

There was something else though that went along with that.. something about having a lot of ads.

Oh that's not bad at all Mike.

As a matter of fact, my first chunk of links on my site has more than you.

I'm talking about those sites that are ALLLLLLLL links.

      Here's a wiki link that kinda describes what I meant;

After my domain name change... (my past domain name was PR2) at least now the links for the new domain name are starting to being recognized... but still the new domain name has PR 0 :'(

and the past now is PR0 cause many of the links to it I have managed to transfer them...

I guess it'll take time to arrive to where I was with the old domain name...

I can't remember where I was at, but I know it wasn't 5, which it is now for two, and 4 for another. One of the blogs with PR 5 is interesting. "Clio and Me" had been about a 3 on Blogger, and then I moved it early this year and had nothing. Up to 5 now goes beyond recovery to real progress. Good to know that that can work even without having my own domain that keeps PR when I switch.

edited to add: I just noticed that my personal site is up to 5 too. A year ago it was at 2, and that was after it had been around since late 2001. I guess being active with new content has helped.

What do i have to do to get ranked...I don't think i have a rank at all. Tips?
    1. clioandme
Relevant backlinks, for one thing, but I believe the formula is more complicated than that, as Google doesn't want us gaming the system. Its ranking system is an attempt to describe the relevance of blogs, but how it does that is always changing, though you'll read plenty of posts claiming to know the secret.

It took me between 3 to 5 months to get any rank the first time. Real progress in the beginning was moving from "n/a" to a "0"

I'll have to be patient....a virtue that never seems to work on me.

My PR is 2. What does that mean?
    1. johnsblogs42
Means ur doing better than some.. 8^)
    2. CrotchetyOldMan
Oh. So, can I use that as a pick up line at the bar?
"Hiya, Toots, so what's your page rank?"

You could always try it in Las Vegas at BlogWorld in Sept. Might still result in bodily injury, though, so don't say I didn't warn you.
    4. johnsblogs42
Yeah...might wanna wait till ur at least a 4 or 5 to attempt that.
  13. gingerbeer25
WOW then I should be really happy with the 5 rank after only having a blog since April
  14. mikeny07
It is. I have some blogs a year old and they still have a PR 2 only.

It is not by how much traffic you get. My PR 4 blog gets very very little hits at all, and it is the highest PR out of my 18 other blogs.
    1. clioandme
Right. It's about semantic relationships among websites. Google uses these to create a gigantic index of the information available and put what it hopes are the most relevant hits first, in order to make its users happy. Understanding these relationships also helps it with its advertising business.
