The recent atrocities and massacre that have taken place in Gaza in the previous months have been absolutely horrific. Any person with any humanity can see what has happened is tragic. So far the reaction of people has been two fold.

1- To demonstrate and use the mechanisms within the democratic system to vent frustration
2- To show economic support through boycotting Zionist goods.

There is however one thing that is missing here and that is asking ourselves what do we know about Palestine? Its history? Its importance to Muslims? Why are the people of Palestine suffering? Who are the Zionists’? What do they believe in? Why should we as Muslims care? And most importantly, what does the Qur’an and Sunnah say about the holy land?

As-Suffa Institute is holding a one day intensive course that will keep a deep and penetrative understanding of Palestine. We hope to fill in the gap of education and ensure that people can gain a good understanding of the issues.

This course isn’t just for Muslims but for anyone who wishes to attend. The course is presented by Ismail Adam Patel an activist and an instrumental figure on the issue of Palestine. He is an instrumental figure at Friends of Al Aqsa and renowned for writing books on the issue.

Gaza has never belonged to "Palestine" (a term that has modern connatations but not historical significance). In fact, Israel currently holds only a small portion of that land that was given to Father Abraham and Sarah.
