Anyone see "Paranormal Activity" in the movie theater yet? If so, how was it? Was it scary?

Seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this.

Not yet, going to wait for it to come on DVD. Hardly worth the $ these days to see a film in the theater when I have a kickass media room to watch it in.

We saw it today. Parts of it was scary, made you jump anyhow a few times. It wasn't really "edge of your seat scary" though.

      ah! thank you.

It's not scary, but it was cleverly made especially by a 1st time director. If you've seen the movie in theatres, you should watch the original cut ending made in 2007. I think it's a bit freakier besides the whole "I found this chick on the internet just like you and she was possessed by a demon" thing. I can see why they changed it of course. It didn't have the in your face factor like the new ending does. I'm still impressed though that this was the director's first film.

I'm a little skeptical of this one... like it'll be the domestic version of Blair Witch Project. (But I haven't seen it.)

It's a creepy, get-under-your-skin-and-linger sort of scary. I liked it very much. One movie I didn't like much, Grace (on DVD), is part of the focus of a humorous blog entry of mine today.

      Yea, I thought "Grace" sucked.

I just went to see it and wrote a pseudo-review of it today.

    Eh.

morgantj -- dbowles has a review you'd be interested in. Last night he told us it was a snoozer. (Too bad, because that trailer creeped me right out!)

Yea, the trailer was really selling me on it.

I'm going to attempt to re-watch it, and maybe get to some of the good parts. But the first 20 minutes or so is pretty dumb.

Make sure you go during the day, or wait a while before going...idiots in the audience can really spoil it for you. It gets much more intense toward the end. To be honest, I'm looking forward to its DVD release...I think it will be much scarier watching it at home.

I am/was watching it at home
