I have thought about this before and have finally come to a conclusion I never expected....its HRH Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen may not be vocal but she carries a presence about her and touches peoples lives without being close to them.

I came to this conclusion from watching a program about her travel across the world to visit the countries of the commonwealth and what they all think today. It seems that most people in the commonwealth, and dare I say it beyond have an affection to the Queen and feel she gives something every one needs.

It seems that the Queen has admirers in every country of the world and is the one person known in every corner of the glove.

What are you thoughts and if you dont agree who do you think it is?

Today, I think that Al Gore is influencing the world more than anyone else, in his quest to increase awareness about global warming.

I do admit he is making an impact on the world but is he influencing the everday people in the way Queen Elizabeth II has in her reign as the Queen?

Well, I think he is--and in important ways. Being American, we are not as exposed to what the Queen does on a daily basis. I do agree that she is very influential--but I think that Gore does more to actually *influence* (i.e., change behavior) people.

It's definitely not the Queen. As nice as she is, she couldn't get Zimbabwe to stop brutalising its own people, Nigeria to get rid of the scammers and distribute oil revenues to its people, or in the past, to stop Idi Amin from eating people.

We need to stop being so focused on prominent figures and realise that it is what we do as individuals that collectively has the greatest impact; rather than wait for some giant, be someone who actually does something yourself. Whether that is getting involved with a cause or working for charity, it doesn't matter - it is when people pitch in that nations most readily move forward.

    I would have selected either:

    1) Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin - he's the schmuck that helped convince Prime Minister Jean Chretien to retire or resign after 10 years .. became head of the Liberal party and illegally (by default) suddenly became Prime Minister without being voted into office. When he tried to create bad legislation he decided to call an election instead and, Stupid Canadians actually voted him in, albeit a minority government. I think this showed the world that stupid people get what they wish for. Fortunately, Paul Martin was even more stupid, and tried to create more bad legislation and was defeated in a non-confidence vote a few months later. What an idiot. And, he was our Finance Minister before he was elected PM.

    2) Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney - He was that guy with a big chin who loved America and partied with Ronald Reagan alot and screwed our country with his corruption and the GST, which, surprisingly was a big benefit for all business in Canada and he helped initiate into law Free Trade Act in North America. A lot of Canadians either love him or hate him. His son hosts Canadian Idol and that E!Canada show.
