I post daily. Either something current in my life, a story of interest from the past, or a reaction to general news.
One key is to not post too often. I've noticed bloggers who start out posting multiple times every day then wind up burning out quickly.
Also, keep a list of future topics for when writer's block hits. -

I think everyone wears multiple hats in life. Blogging should be the same. That is why I write about my experiences as a primary school teacher as well as my love for hip-hop. I kind of use my blog as a platform to write commentaries on all sorts of different issues.
I don't think personal blogs need to be simply diary entries. That can be quite boring.-
I agree with you both, but apparently there is another school of thought on this. When I started my personal blog, I didn't expect anyone other than my friends to read it, and I've been very surprised. Two of the posts I've been quite surprised by the reaction to were about having my recycling bins stolen and replacing my ironing board. Apparently some people really are interested in peeking inside the mundane details of someone else's life.

How do you maintain your personal blogs?
I try to keep my blog simple so that the blog does not overshadow what I write about.
What topics do you write about?
I write about issues men face and the solutions I have discovered for them.
Do you focus on one or two topics or more?
Men face more than two problems in life so I write about many different topics.
How frequently do you post?
It varies from week to week. Sometimes it is once a week and at other times it is more.
Any tips for a fellow blogger?
Whatever you write about do it from your heart and from your interests and people will find your more believable.

Hi
I'm only new to blogging, and only really started it out to write about the daily happenings in my life.
I don't know if there is a right or wrong way to go about personal blogging, but I just post topics that have something to do with my experiences in life, or about a soemthing that's grabbed my attention that day ;-)
I post most days:)
All the best with yours Lunais !

I started with a few blogs a year ago, but eventually narrowed them down and now actively maintain 2-3 blogs weekly. I write mostly about photography and photography techniques, travel tales, recipes, the books I like etc. It still takes a fair bit of time each morning, with a day job. I update my blogs in the morning every so often if I have something to write about and it takes 20-30 minutes. A blog is like a beast, needs to be fed constantly to keep it fresh and visitors coming back not mentioning lots of marketing one has to do
Happy blogging -
How do you maintain your personal blogs?
I post original, well written content on a regular basis.
What topics do you write about?
Mostly about life, love, and all that jazz (whatever enters my mind lands on my blog).
Do you focus on one or two topics or more?
The topics vary, but are usually along the same lines.
How frequently do you post?
Right now I am posting daily, but I'm sure eventually it will become every other day or so.
Any tips for a fellow blogger?
Patience. I tend to get a little discouraged when I don't see many visitors to my blog and have to remind myself why I'm blogging in the first place -- I like to write. -
I tend to write and post about what comes up or anything. I basically blog like how I talk to my friends...
I try to make intresting posts about everything..

I blog about my life... stuff people can relate to. I tend to post every few days. It gives people time to come by & comment, and time for me to respond. Feel free to stop by. I'd love to hear from you.
Peace,
JB

The Melindaville Blog chronicles my journey of writing and publishing my memoir, “Lost and Found,” which details my experiences as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, as a sex industry worker, as an actor and musician in San Francisco’s punk rock scene of the 1980’s and my fifteen year journey through recovery. I hope to inspire others who suffer from painful early childhood experiences, addiction or other self-destructive tendencies, as well as raise awareness about the need for free and available treatment in our society. My ultimate goal is to launch The Melindaville Foundation, which will fund treatment for addicts (particularly those working in the sex industry) so they can receive the second chance at life I was given.
You can visit my blog (and I hope you do!) at blog.melindaville.com -
What about? Generally, it's about what's happening in my life - a day-to-day blog if I came from a travel, a review or recommendation about something I've seen, read or learned. Sometimes I use it as a jump off point to the links where my articles are written or where my pictures (i'm trying to learn photography) are posted.
Sometimes it's just an update for my friends on what's happening with me - hence the personal blog part. -
Well just upload anything interesting you think that worth sharing
What topics do you write about?
I blog about anything that comes to mind ...but mostly i share stuff that gives information to my followers and friends
Do you focus on one or two topics or more?

That's my blog and I mostly write to react to any event that interests me...I write about my faith, some tennis viewing drama, TV shows, some movies...
BTW, I have a cute widget on free books! -
I don't write daily, and feature only poetry and photographs. So two kinds of people follow the blog. My personal thoughts are exprssed via the poems. Blogs are personal and there is no real advice on how or what to do. After that, its upto you and you'll be getting feedback from your readers in any case.

i had a goal to write 1000 posts. i have 31 to go and that's it. so the key is to set goals and then chip away at them, even if they are dumb like mine.

Generally it's my philosophies towards life - I have a few recurring themes ie: value of girlfriends, online dating and then it's generally about relationships and life. I try to keep it all in line with the title of my blog, Women's Wit. I will generally post once a day, taking one day off on the weekends. I try to always think ahead, sometimes write ahead, in case writer's block hits. If I don't have something insightful or funny to share, I just don't post - I don't want to waste my readers' time with trivial nonsense. I am using my blog as a launch for a book I'm writing so quality is very important to me. Check out my site if you'd like by clicking on my username and accessing my blog from there.

How do you maintain your personal blogs?
I live my life and then write about it.
What topics do you write about?
Anything and everything goes on my blog. Usually it's about whatever has p!ssed me off recently.
Do you focus on one or two topics or more?
The common theme of my blog is bitchiness and the topics range from anything to everything.
How frequently do you post?
I took a leave, but am back now and currently try to post at least every other day.
Any tips for a fellow blogger?
Have patience and just keep writing. Everything will fall into place with time. -
My blog is completely personal since it's about my unemployment...
However, I tie in every day things that I think will make people laugh.. which may include typical "men vs women" challenges, current events that are directly or indirectly relevant where I can inject some humor. I think as long as you provide some well written, creative entries, there are many people who will enjoy a personal blog. -
I have a personal blog which is my personal diary (www.mayeth03.info). I posted anything that I can relate on it. I also included some other things that inspires me.

I've found I've settled into an average of once a week but my posts often exceed 1000 words so are probably quite legthy compared to the average blog.
My usual topics end up based around my interests because I blog around my life experiences and thoughts and without the influence of something out of the ordinary, thats generally what I end up doing and in turn what I end up blogging about. Building up to my wedding at the moment though so the theme of many posts will probably end up heading down that line.
