Pet 'Net Adoption Event - It's today October 16, 2008

- In an effort to heighten awareness, pet bloggers and editors are raising their voices together to highlight animal shelter adoption. Each site participating in the Pet ‘Net Adoption Event has devoted at least one post to the topic of shelter adoption. Click the links ... to see the blogs and support this great cause.
If you haven't heard yet - we are trying to heighten awareness for pet shelter adoption today - the first annual event hosted by Petside.com. We would like to invite you to come visit out sites and read all about pet shelter adoption and if you can, help the animals and the pet shelters. This can be done by adopting your next pet from a pet shelter, donating money to your local pet shelter, donating supplies to your local pet shelter, donating your time and volunteer at your local pet shelter .. and basically passing the word to others.
We are part of this event, and while some have 1-2 articles or events PetLvr.com/blog/pet-net-adoption-event/ has contributed over 20 articles and Pet Adoption Success Stories from our readers and from fellow BC'ers here, that will be published throughout this day.
If you tune in to the TODAY SHOW, today (NBC) during the 8:30am EST segment, Petside.com Contributing Veterinarian Dr. Lauren Brickman will be on-air along with adoptable pets from the North Shore Animal League of America.
This event will be mentioned around the nations on radio interviews, in the newspapers, etc etc and I ask that if you HEAR and ad .. or SEE and ad .. please point this out here in this thread! Ditto with any YouTube videos 
Oh .. and please ... Adopt a pet today from your local shelter!

Yah .. I hear you It was originally scheduled tentatively for October 14th, which was our Canadian Election day.
But there is a reason it is today - October is "Adopt a Shelter Dog Month" (see The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=asdm ) ... The planners of this event (Petside.com) were hoping around the middle of the month sometime in the middle of the week. Today just worked out best for everybody I guess! This is the first annual event, hopefully many more will happen years to come.

Thanks for posting my little doggie darlings and their stories. It is painful to contemplate that these sweet little creatures would be long dead had we not opened our home and our hearts to them. They have truly given back to us more than we can ever give to them.-
