What do you think about the new "Terrorism Act 2000" law in the UK?

Do you think this will reach America soon?

(Note)
If you do not know about this law, check it out here!

Great post! Here is another one:

"Ex-spy chief Dame Stella Rimington says ministers have turned UK into police state"

It is going to suck when this law makes its way into America.

    It could be ...

I usually watch "Paparazzi" on BBC Knowledge and found sometimes they act like a terrorist.

I hate this law so much that I think I am going to fly to the UK just to stick a camera in a cops face and click away! I have no problems with cops, I just hate this law!!!

Would not advise it. If you are arrested you could be held for 28 days without charge.

This is a quote from “The Terrorism Act 2000″

“If officers reasonably suspect that photographs are being taken as part of hostile terrorist reconnaissance, a search under section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000 or an arrest should be considered.

    @shuttercraft ..

Well, you should fly here too. You'll see much more interesting things around.

Oh, I "love" this country. Love it too much so I would move to another country if I can.

    If officers reasonably suspect....

That actually sounds reasonable enough to me. It is well known that target reconnisance involves photography if possible.

It has been in place in most countries for ages, only in the past it was about mainly military installations as part of espionage.

With terrorists, Bridges, large buildings, Railroads, in short, every part of infrastructure is a potential target. And yes, preparation of a crime is a crime.

This law effectively permits the police to suspect "anyone" taking a photo in public of being a terrorist and arrest them. I just think this is going to far! Soon you will need a license to shoot on the streets, this is a idiotic law. I am happy that so many photographers came together to fight this law in a non violent way! the just simply all got together on the streets and starting snapping away!

The video on my post shows how the photographers of the UK feel about this new law.

      LOL ... funny law.

Well .. FYI, people in my country can be sue according to the law of pornography if they kiss their girlfriend in public.

WOW, that sucks. It just makes me think about all the people I see having hardcore makeout sessions in the public of America!

This is a email I got from a photographer from the UK-

    "I was a terrorist…

During the G8 celebrated in Scotland I was arrested with a group of 20 persons when they where blocking the motorway in Stirling.

I showed my press pass. But they treat me like a criminal.

I was 2 day arrested in Falcrik prission and they keep all my photo material for 7 months, plus 3 trips I had to go to the court.

At the end my case was released because the police didn’t come to testify.

    This is their democracy."

I just blogged about this and I'm hoping that it won't happen in the US, do to the vary loud nature of 1rst amendment support that the Supreme court has upheld. visualperspective.wordpress.com/
