What do you know about the political process in the Philippines? Well, if you read my blog at least somewhat regularly, you'd know an awful lot.

Praning was generous enough to answer all of my silly questions about politics in the Philippines, and as it turns out, it was a great learning experience for me. She is rather knowledgeable about politics over there, and answered everything thoroughly, and thoughtfully.

Go check it out, and learn something new.

I know that sometimes the people in power have extensive shoe collections.

I'll be headed over to check this out in a bit. I'm not very well informed on this subject.

I'm from the Philippines and if you live here, you'll get tired of all these political stunts people in power are pulling. So tired and numb that you'll learn how to ignore everything they do even if it involves taking away the very food in your table.

doesn't sound to far off from here in the U.S. either. You're not alone.

Interesting yet familiar. I am Filipino too, see...and thanks for that post.
I agree with everything except for one- we don't really 'reserve' a particular smile for our enemies but in general, we smile for all reasons including the wrong ones, so there is no such thing as a 'special' smile.
It's just part of our culture.
    Confusing eh? ( i'm smiling right now....LOL !!!)

Can I be honest? What confuses me the most is - do you say "filipino" or "philipino"? And what is "pinay"? I stay away from these terms for fear I'll say them wrong and offend someone.

See, that's just what my ex told me, about the "smile". He said that Filipinos were extremely polite, but when they are annoyed or see someone stupid or that they don't like, they give that smile.

Maybe his dad taught him that

    Sure, horsey (lol)...
Pinay is a PC term, it simply means Filipina woman. Filipino over Philipino.
    anything else? ^_^

What's wrong with a little honest corruption? Governments all over the world indulge in this, consistetly, every day.
