Here is a "funny" one I saw spotted recently. You don't see a sign like this every day so I had to photograph it.

That's annoying, can't edit my deliberate mistake in the title. Oh well.

      Oh

      my

      goodness.

      What country?
    2. polybore
Hmm. They put a lot of effort into that sign!

      Close observation: good catch.

This brings up something that's puzzled me: what is so wrong with chest hair? I recognize the loathing of chest hair on men as a durable part of American culture: but why?
    2. BlueSunshine
Well as far as American culture as a whole, I'm not really sure why people aren't a fan of chest hair. To me it just seems sleazy. I don't want to be staring at it when I'm eating a sandwich.

Not bad advice, actually. Gets the reader's attention!

Your photo is the real McCoy (or among the best retouching jobs I've seen), but there are too many out there that claim to be real, but are obviously fiddled with.

Sorry, just a bit of venting.

Thanks for a thread that's of the 50th percentile.

I think this is my fav so far. That billboard must have cost a small quite a bit only for them to mess up like that.
    2. morgantj
      did they mess up?
    3. polybore
No it seems they did not. Was not aware that they were a humanist society. Assumed that they were a church making an error. Thanks for getting me to check that.
    1. MadameX
You won't be ordering a dozen, then?
    2. morgantj
As enticing as it sounds, I'll have to pass.
    3. polybore
I wonder if they would keep well.

Lots of funny signs that have been translated I think from Chinese to English (quite badly too). I have been suffering from horrifying of highness all weekend.

Lol, I showed my husband your post a few days ago. He got a kick out of it.

I don't have a picture of a sign, but I'm reminded of the drive-through liquor store I found once. I was very upset I didn't have my camera on me...
    2. polybore
Fantastic. The Olympics should provide a host of opportunities.

I don't have any pics, but I saw one. I went to a tiny gas/petrol station. The gas pumps were located behind the building. There was a sign that read "Gas in Rear."
    1. polybore
      Oh, that would be cold.
  4. OutsideMyBrain
I took this one myself. I couldn't believe it actually said what it said:

    You can't not laugh!
    1. focusorganic
Lol. I haven't seen ones exactly like that, but I've seen sale signs that claim wonderful savings and show the original price of 2-3 cents more than the sale price.
    2. polybore
A drive through alcohol shop. No that I have to see!
    3. Lucyvp
Hehe, they are too kind to their customers!

Polybore, we have drive through alcohol shops in Australia. Knowing Aussies, it's not surprising lol.

I've realy been lol at this lot. Anyone got anymore?

Shameless self-promotion: I used one of the links in this thread for an "Apathetic Lemming" post ( apatheticlemming.blogspot.com/2008/06/fractured-english-and-funny-signs.htm... ). With a link back to this discussion, of course.

  8. DrowseyMonkey
That would be an effective sign to keep robbers away, lol
    1. polybore
An excellent idea, I'll get a pot of paint tomorrow and make my own version of the sign.
    1. polybore
Phew that is not my cup of tea at all. The guy has a very high opinion of himself.
  9. polybore
Ok I have a new one which has amused me greatly. The most unfortunate brand name ever? polybore.blogspot.com/2008/06/most-unfortunate-brand-name-ever.html
  10. polybore
A new photo I took today of a sign near me which at one time was Scotland's most frequently stolen road sign.
