I love Lil Wayne because of his word play. He has a song with this line: "My flow is nasty like C.Y. Philis."

It took me forever to figure out what the hell he meant. Apparently he can't spell and meant "My flow is nasty like S.Y. Philis."

    Yes Ken Lee's a classic!

locomotive breath (jethro tull - some older stuff for you)
He hears the silence howling --
    Catches angels as they fall.
    And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls.
He picks up gideons Bible --

Now I enjoy reading posts like this because it is surprising to know there are such lyrics that exist around. I don't know much given my tendency to lean towards instrumental music but this is really funny.

I tend to lean the other way: I can put up with second rate music if the lyrics are good.

But I do have a soft spot for 'karma to burn',
oh, and rodrigo i gabriella (theyre mexican guitar music)

And absolutely LOVE kyuss. some albums are almost completely instrumental.

I think my favorite line of all time is from Behind Blue Eyes by The Who.

"And if I swallow anything evil, put your finger down my throat..."

Almost every song written by Sting has timeless lyrics.

This is a song byt Enya. Lyrics by Roma Ryan. I think it is really priceless.

    Once You Had Gold

    Once you had gold,
    Once you had silver,
    Then came the rains
    out of the blue.
    Ever and always.
    Always and ever.
Time gave both darkness and dreams to
    you.

    Now you can see
    Spring becomes autumn,
    leaves become gold
    falling from view.
    Ever and always.
    Always and ever.
No-one can promise a dream come true,
Time gave both darkness and dreams to
    you.

    What is the dark;
    shadows around you,
    why not take heart
    in the new day?
    Ever and always.
    Always and ever.
No-one can promise a dream for you,
Time gave both darkness and dreams to
    you.

And you could have it all
    My empire of dirt
    I will let you down
    I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
    Upon my liar's chair
    Full of broken thoughts
    I cannot repair
    Beneath the stains of time
    The feelings disappear
    You are someone else
    I am still right here

Hurt, by Johnny Cash. Really, My empire of dirt.

"We've been had, you say it's over
Sometimes I'm just happy I'm older
    We've been had I know it's over
Somehow it got easy to laugh out loud"

    - from "We've been had" by The Walkmen

She said that she was working for the abc news
It was as much of the alphabet as she knew how to use
    Her perfume was unspeakable
    It lingered in the air
    Like her artificial laughter
    Her mementos of affairs

From "Brilliant mistake" by Elvis Costello
