I dont have ppc adds on my site, but it does not stop me getting private messages from some cheeky monkeys on my friends list telling me...
----"i have visited your site and clicked on your adds, I would like it if you could do the same for me"----
I know people get banned google accounts over this so I sent out this following broadcast to my friends list...
---"I have had some people on my friends list private messaging me telling me that they have visited my site and clicked on my ads and they would like it if i could do the same for them.
Well let me tell you that none of my ads are ppc for a start. If they were my account would probably have been banned by now!
I am not naming who sent me these messages this time but they are coming from more than one person on my friends list.
This broadcast is to say that from now on, anyone asking me to click on ads will be reported to blog catalog straight away.
I have also started a discussion about it.
You have been warned. stop asking or get of my friends list now."---
Any one of them that asks me to click will be named and shamed here.
Post any offenders here if you want to help preserve the integrity of Blog Catalog!

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. I got one such message a few days ago telling me that she clicked my ads and I should return the favor.
The only thing is... I dont have any ads on my blog.-
me too! I usually get at least two a day - I don't have ads you morons, please stop with the damn spam! The same for "I've visited your blog - please visit mine." Because yes - by leaving some random generic message, providing me no real feedback on mine, I am certainly motivated to check out your blog.

I admonish and ask them to immediately "unclick" my ads or .. I will be very offended
They back off and hopefully they will remember me and spread the word around that this crow is a crazy grouch -
I dealt with this last night as well and messaged back asking how one clicks on something that doesn't exist. Think I got a response?

I have ads, but I really didn't think they actually ki$$ed my adds like they claim they do, and even if they did, I wouldn't return the favour because most ad programs specifically forbid it.
I added a warning to my profile that these sort of shouts will be reported to BC, with some other spammy messages that are constantly there... But just like my blog, they won't read my profile either, and the messages still keep coming, but the quantity has diminished a little.
But I report them every time, if they don't say something that proves they've visited my blog, I report them for spamming, INCLUDING "Nice blog please visit mine" -messages. -

I got another one of those this morning. I reported it to BC as spam.
What I understand from a previous thread is that if you report it as Spam, the BC Admins will take care of that A$-clicker spammer.
They don't want this stuff going on anymore than we do. -

sent me this....
I visited your site. It's very nice. I had clicked on your ads. I hope you do the same. development together
I have marked the massage as spam.-
Hitting Spam blocks them, but it does not alert BC staff and remove them from BC.
I usually forward the notification email to www.blogcatalog.com/contact with the subject "Abuse report: Ad clicker". Normally the spammer is gone in a matter of days (except maybe not now, while all BC staff are at Blog World 2009).

If anyone leaves me a spammy ad click message, I report them. If I'm feeling really annoyed, I put a public message in their shout box informing them that I reported them for spam and click fraud. Just yesterday, I did this, and the spammer begged me not to report them, and that they'd "never do it again!"
Sure buddy, too late.
