says who??
You?
Humans have been selling themselves for sex and buying sex forever. Certainly all of these millions of people were not lacking morals.
If some trade continues to exist for as long as prostitution has there must be a need or reason for it. It seems to me that prostitution is part of human societies.

I cannot see any reason why an adult discussion on prostitution would not be okay to talk about on BC. I have seen plenty of other sexually related taboo topics discussed on here. Such as Cooking with Semen, Human Sex Drives, and so-on.
Your discussion must have been removed for some other reason besides it's topic. -

I did have that link, I guess that could be why... I didn't think about that! But if the mod is reading this, and it was for another reason, please explain why! If blogcatalog approved my blog about be a gay escort, why can I not start a discussion about the morality of prostitution?
"The BlogCatalog community believes very passionately in free speech."

I have an idea. Why not invite us readers over to your blog ... we can click your avatar and be taken to your profile page and from there, link to your blog. There we may fully and freely discuss this question which you have asked.
Due to recent discussion modification, and the fact that while freedom of speech is alive and well here at BlogCatalog, we as a community are tamping down the topics of discussion and being a tad more discretionary in our approach to not having anyone feel uncomfortable.
Should you wish to have us visit I can see that you would likely have quite a few members join in the conversation on your site.
*Disclaimer* This is my pondering your question and trying to come up with an answer whereby you may be placated and not offended that the original question posed was not allowed. Sometimes that is the way it is.

Theresa111 you are contradicting yourself when you say "Due to recent discussion modification, and the fact that while freedom of speech is alive and well here at BlogCatalog, we as a community are tamping down the topics of discussion and being a tad more discretionary in our approach to not have anyone feel uncomfortable."

Sometimes I do contradict myself, because, gosh I am human, but in this we are choosing to be a little nicer in our conversations. There was a huge discussion about this all last week and I was trying to tell him I would discuss it over at his site, but agree with the general opinion about "hot topics" and not wanting to find these types of discussions here. I am such a contradiction.
What am I to do? (walks off muttering to self and pulling out hair)
(throws red toupe` down and stomps all over it ... "There ... take that!"

Then keep the discussion going. I was just trying to reason out why their discussion was possibly removed, is all. However, I wouldn't bet that what transpires would not be talked about. My money would be on details, some of which might be deemed inappropriate would end up being said. Then the topic would be back to square one.

Comment Removed by Kanye West. "Look prostitution is your thing and all, and ima let you finish, but Beyonce was one of the best pimps of all time" *arms up?* *walks away*

I believe administration is the only one allowed to determine removing comments or discussions.
You know, BC could always set up a separate tab whereby members would pay by credit card to enter into one of these freedom of speech sexual discussions. Everyone over 21 could enter, with proof of age and then neither BC nor any of it's members would be perceived as repressed closet cases.
It is a matter of good taste, refinement and classiness, which the world needs more of. I am glad as many others are, that BlogCatalog is raising it's standards. -
i agree that porn and profanity could be deemed inappropriate and removed... But stories involving prostitution are on the front page of the New York Times. Removing them from here, in my opinion, amounts to very unnecessary censorship... and i don't think subjects like sex and prostitution shouldn't be discussed by those under 21 (or 18). I'm pretty sure i read/learned about those topics in high school!
I'm pretty positive my post was removed because of the link, and I guess my tags may be a little off, also? But I don't think discussing prostitution makes us not 'classy'... if being being classy means ignoring pressing issues in the world around us, no thanks! -
DollinNYC ... (I love NYC!) Ok. I didn't think so, because I never lived in a closet. TOO dark. But as a child I did have a cool one once and I made a fort out of it. That lasted for perhaps two weeks until my attention was captured by something else.
internetrentboy, Hello there. First time we met and I did not realize the question you posed was about morality. I thought is had to do with WHY your original discussion was removed. And without sounding hoity-toity, I do not think this profession is really considered classy.
Some of my friends through the years, (I worked in the entertainment business for years and my husband is an entertainer), have worked in this field. I just wouldn't consider it classy. I would consider it a JOB and not many jobs are considered classy ... at all.

No, Doll and I were just having fun. This 'comment removed' game started a long time ago. It wasn't directed at you.
