Can you really be 100% anonymous behind a proxy server while surfing?

e.g. www.proxy10.blogspot.com

Many people have been doing that esp in forums etc

I found someone browsing my site through a proxy server....but the IP recorded by my stat checker matched up with several others from previous visits - so even the proxy server didn't hide the actual IP.

It only hid the referring link, and destination.

    Oops

No way... if it's via a proxy server.. you can't see the real IP...
try it with any of the proxies listed in proxy10.blogspot.com/

I have a new web proxy with unlimited bandwith and unrestricted function, please add cafedeyou.com - cafedeyou.com : Surf The Web Fastly & Securely to your listing.

    Thanks

Someone posted on my blog once using a proxy called hidemyass.com or something like that. I thought it was kind of funny.

As you have mentioned there are many different types of proxies, some are much more secure than others. Most proxies do a very bad job of hiding their owners addresses. The most secure are the proxies that make a completely separate connection without passing information in their headers.

If configured properly they simply pass data and they are not detectable by information passed in their headers.

Also remember that you are handing over ALL your data to the owner of the proxy, so make sure you trust them !!! DO they log your information, how long do they keep it, etc.

Lots of stuff about proxies at my blog if anyone interested.
