Why is Quantcast so ridiculously inaccurate in reporting data?

I believe that unless the site owner has place the quantcast tracking code on their site, all data is just an estimation.

Thanks for the info. What about the charges for this tracking code?

    Does this help?
"Unlike other audience measurement services, Quantcast is based on inference modeling which combines directly-measured traffic data from Quantified Publishers with a variety of sample-based audience reference points (several varieties, in addition to publisher supplied information). The data volumes powering Quantcast's services are dramatically larger than traditional panel-based audience approaches - with over 130 billion new media consumption events being logged and processed monthly. The result is the ability to deliver rich audience-based profiles, near real-time, for media assets with as few as just a few hundred unique viewers.

Timethief, thank you but to me it sounds like unless you are a paying customer you cannot expect to have an accurate report but rather something based on what is wafting around the ether. Since incorrect data is harmful whether it is too high or too low, it would seem to be better not to have any report at all. Too low and the website loses prospective customers. Too high and the websites' customers aren't getting what they thought they paid for. And that leaves Quantcast where? Using all the websites on the internet for data points with or without permission. to create an image of auntheticity with the Inference Modeling criteria they promote. That's what it looks like to me.

Mea Culpa- I was mistaken about the charges. I followed your advice and will see what happens. Had to embed a code on each page, not a happy camper as you can imagine.

If you care about generating revenue for your blog you should install it. It gives potential advertisers clear cut details on what they want to know.

You should be able to dump it into your footer or another section that populates it through your entire site.

Pointless, thank you. I thought I had the code. I thought I embedded it as per the instructions. Now I don't know how to check for the data. As for dumping it in the footer, I tried that first but it stayed there as html when I previewed it so gave up and took the other route. Thanx again for your help.
