Questions on Embedding adsense codes inside bloggger post body?

Is adding the blogger code inside the post body illegal or is it going with bloggers terms and conditions...??
Adsense insists not to tamper with the default code..But to get working with the default code i had to replace symbols like ',",< etc with & quot, & lt etc etc... Will their be any problem with things like this...
