Scissors - can't function in the kitchen without them.
    1. GadgetsKitchen
I like this response! I have about 4 scissors at home but always seem to lose them around the house...

Thanks for the post- I will be writing about some scissors soon on my blog!

Egg/mushroom slicer. This thing is super for slicing mushrooms into uniform pieces in a second!

My second favourite is the rotary cheese shredder...no more barked knuckles on the grater!

    My cappuccino frother.

And occasionally my Alessi champagne bottle stopper, although having a way to keep the fizz in doesn't slow down the drinking!

Mine would have to be the food processor. I use it for everything from fruit juice, to sauces, to soups.
    1. GadgetsKitchen
I just bought a new food processor and I agree.... LOVE IT!!!!

OHHH Yeahh! The kitchen knife- THE MOST important piece in the KITCHEN. You can usually tell about the cook by the choice of knife they have- also how sharp they keep it!
  9. legbamel
If coffee maker is taken then I'll choose my garlic press.

I'm so sentimental in the kitchen. I have a box grater that my mother received as a wedding gift in 1965. I use it all the time and love it (even though I have a food processor).

My Kitchen Aid stand mixer is the bomb.

I also have a great Krupps can opener that actually unfolds the top of the can so that there are no sharp edges. My kids like to use it, and I don't have to worry about them getting cut on the sharp metal.
    1. GadgetsKitchen
i think you love your kitchen gadgets... am i right =) i am looking for the krups can opener for a future post on my blog... thanks for the idea!

    2. LynneaUrania
I can get by without a stove. I can even get by without a refrigerator. But I can't get by without a knife. Your choice is mine.

Must go with the sponge ruiner...

"I have a cheese shredder at home, which is its positive name. They don't call it by its negative name, which is sponge ruiner. Because I wanted to clean it, and now I have little bits of sponge that would melt easily over tortilla chips."

    - Mitch Hedberg
    1. libdrone
I've had that problem too. GK, you might want to do a post on 'how to clean a box grater without shredding your sponge'
    2. GadgetsKitchen
I will look into that- I too have that same problem... thanks for the idea!
    3. GadgetsKitchen

I can fry an egg almost without any fat at all. The egg will slide right out when I tilt the pan.
