I don't get the time to hang out here much anymore ever since we had the 2nd kid, but I'm sure many of you who remember me will know I couldn't let this moment in history pass without comment.

We were there. We saw it happen. Rachel Alexandra, a filly I've been raving about for months, and a future mate of my beloved Curlin, became the first filly since Nellie Morse in 1924 to win the Preakness.

Being as that we did not get back from Pimlico until around 9:30 PM, and the news was already old, this is more of a heartfelt/personal recap of the day's events.

When I first met many of you, I expounded upon that singular moment when Curlin won the 2007 Preakness, and I was moved to fits of shaking and tears.

It happened again today. Queen Rachel reigns supreme.

If you liked that one, I guess I might as well also share this one, as it weaved together my love of Curlin, Rachel, and my boyhood idol Cal Ripken Jr. (and yes, I assure you, there is a connection). :-)

I wasn't old enough to witness the great Ruffian, but my exact words to my wife after watching her in the KY Oaks a few weeks ago (and we were already BIG fans of hers) was "best horse since Curlin" - which isn't something I'd say lightly.

What she did today was mind blowing! I'm honored to have no voice left after screaming for her.
