I did a little arithmetic.

Around the middle of 2011, at the current rate of development, "A BC Story" ( www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/a-bc-story-one-word-at-a-time ) will be a novel. At any rate, there will be 100,000 words in it.

Judging from the work so far, it will be something along the lines of Joyce's "Ulysses."

Although I think "A BC Story" might make better reading.

Wouldn't be much better than a monkey randomly hitting a keyboard.

I don't know about that: These "monkeys" are, consciously or unconsciously, tapping into their reservoirs of association and experience for entire words to contribute to the string.

Think of it as "Ulysses" written by a committee.

This collective writing experiment is going well, I think. The narrative is flickering at the very edge of coherence.

Although "A BC Story" is quite adequate as a working title, a previous comment in this thread suggested to me a title for the final version - assuming that there ever is a conclusion:

    "Tale of the Random Monkeys"

I was hoping you had taken what's been put together so far and actually made it into a story - one post.

Makes it much easier to read

      Not a bad idea, actually.

If there aren't objections, I could do that in this thread. Or, maybe, an new one.

None from me...I would love to see it all laid out!

Another forum I frequent has an ongoing "One sentence at a time" group-generated story. It's a little more coherent than the one word at a time variety. Not much, though.
