Reasons Why A Blog Logo Sucks?

Although my websites/blogs logo aren't that superb, I can easily say that they don't suck. How does a logo become ugly on the first place?
1. It's a plain text.
2. It's a face
3. It's in .bmp format
4. It's animated
5. Totally Unrelated
Anything to add?

A good logo adds to brand for sure...I'm changing mine soon.. to a top rate graphic. Would be interesting to hear thoughts on this.

If you can't read the Text because it is so stylized, that's a negative..
It was why when I created my Text Logo via cooltext.com, I was careful what fonts I used. -

I never even thought about using a "logo"
I tend to look for good content. I never notice
the logos on websites or blogs.
Am I really missing out on something?
What kind of logo would you put on a Learning about Credit Cards blog?
