I've had some issues with my current host. They have fixed it but the customer support was awful and they still haven't answered any of my emails that I sent. So I'm looking for a good not too pricey host that people have had a good experience with Wordpress standalone.
As a Systems Admin I know servers and hosting isn't perfect, but I need a place where it isn't hell contacting them when a problem happens.
Any suggestions?

Based on my past week with iPowerWeb I'd say to avoid them.

My blog has been (mostly) down all morning. Tech Support has a 20 minute wait. I've had 8 visitors in the past 6 hrs and 225 for the 6 hrs before that.

Sounds like the problems i had for six months on my host. By the way I think a major issue sometimes is the amount of domains on one host. My current place is like yours over 500 domains on one server. Its hard but I'm trying to find a place around 300.

use go daddy, never had a problem.

I know people like godaddy but I'm trying to find a host that doesn't pile over 300 sites on one domain. As a site admin I know that the more on a host over time the more problems you will have. Godaddy puts thousands on the same server.

www.logotree.com -- i know shameless plug, but we do a great job and have great customer service

Logotree is a design company not a Hosting company with wordpress. I don't see any webhosting packages on your site. You have a dedicated server and yes I like your designs, but how can you do a shamless plug when I'm asking about webhosting? Nice site though.

You might want to try dreamhost... that's what i'm on. I like it because it had one click installation for wordpress feature.

I'm using site5 and bluehost for 2 different wordpress blogs... no problems yet.

I'm using bluehost and it's been great so far. I get to host 3 domains with just one account although the limit is 6. They have fantastico enabled so you can install wordpress with just a few clicks.

If you're looking for free hosting, check out awardspace. I wrote a simple review on them.

I am using HostiCan and love them. They have video tutorials and support articles for Wordpress users.

Based on the date of this thread (2007), the original poster must have found a suitable host for his blogs by now.

I did NOT look at the date on this resurrected thread 2007. However, as I have supplied a list of wordpress hosts I will NOT expect to see this thread resurrected again.

Unless it's bumped by those who don't bother reading and go straight to asking again (or link dropping )

    go for hostgator mate!
  • ArsenicCookies
bluehost is the best I ever had
fatcow is not compatable with newer versions of wp
justhost is a bluehost clone but has a bunch of hidden fees
  • jamest
Dreamhost is a very good one.

I started with GoDaddy but starting having MAJOR slowdowns and they kept trying to see me dedicated hosting...I can't afford that.

I switched to HostGator and their customer service was fantastic. They moved my blog for me and told me exactly what to do to change the DNS server at GoDaddy. I highly recommend HostGator.
  • accidentalsexiness
I'm currently on dream host and whenever I have issues I get quick response from customer service.

    Good Luck!

I would recommend Go Daddy also. The company I work for has been using them for over a decade with no issues.

    I recommend A Small Orange.
