Why do GOOD things happen to BAD people?
I threw it up for consideration on my blog-under- construction: www.teandoranges.blogspot.com
and haven't had any bites, so would be curious to see how people respond to this question... purely frivolous social experimentation.
Any takers?

It happens because our individual actions in our daily lives have no bearing on Karma - or the linear events that create "good" and "bad" things. Otherwise known as a ripple effect.
-
I think this is the first I've heard of the ripple effect.
This is not to say there is a life without consequences, correct? This is more along the lines of saying, do what you will, and/or "good/bad" life events are random?
Not questioning your response, just trying to get my head around it. Am I complicating this?

because life would be boring if it were fair.
Besides if only good things happend to good people, more would become corrupt and feel untouchable. Kind of like gamblers on a winning streak. Similarly if bad things only happened to bad people, they would never be able to change their ways of get an opportunity to do so because they would be continuously struck down.
To keep it fair, good things happen to bad people to give them a shot and bad things happen to good people to keep them humble and thankful.
Just my crazy random opinion though -
I don't really believe there are good people and bad people, but we're all capable of being one or the other or something in between at any moment.
Nonetheless, I'd say it's because the world is not just, and events simply aren't based on any kind of moral metaphysic. Dirtbags get everything they want in life, while innocent children get raped and mutilated.
Whenever something good happens to a humanitarian or something bad happens to a brute, people started nodding and saying "karma" but there are simply too many counter-examples for that understanding of karma to make the least bit of sense.-
I would ENTIRELY agree with the idea that there aren't exactly "good people and bad people". I agree, that people love to whip out the karma explanation when the punishment/award fits their judgment of a particular person. And the counter examples Are indeed overlooked... hence my desire to see how people react to questions like this. Thank you for your input! I have no right/wrong answer to this question either... just looking for how people respond to it. And ultimately, the question is not even legit, imo, but it attempts to drive people to think about better questions. An attempt at a koan?
