Hey,
You can post your blog here. I will review the blog for you.
*** if I like any content or article on your blog, I will post a comment too.

The first is a promise, the second may happen.

And now you may ask, why I will do so. It is because I have an "Opinion". And any reader's opinion should matter to a serious blogger.

Enjoy

I am a serious blogger, though I do not write for a general audience of readers. My blog is about mental health issues and alcoholism, and I guess it is likely to appeal to those who have some experience of those issues. It chronicles my own journey, and hopefully might help some others on a similar path. Feel free to check it out

      Hello Alcomum,
Hope you are up and smiling today.
I revisited your blog (I had seen it earlier too).

Your content seems fine as it targets a niche audience. But I think you need to make the appearance a bit lively. For example, you can add a header image which is symbolical to the message you wanna convey. Perhaps you can add an image of rising sun
      www.eastpark.org/current/_borders/man%20in%20sun.jpg
      or
      stevelutz.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/rising-sun.jpg

Just keep in mind that dont use a copyrighted pic. You can click your own pics too if you have ideas.

      thank u!

zappityzap.wordpress.com is my blog. It's mostly sports based rants with the odd post dedicated to pop-culture stuff. The posts do tend to get long winded and I believe I need more photos to pretty it up, but as it stands right now, I'm working on refining the written content.

Oh yeah, one of the central themes I'm working in is advice, be it bad or good.
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Aloha Minikin.
Yep, you are right about the appearance of blog. It needs a facelift ;-). I know simplicity is a valued virtue, but a little color could really help.
What I loved about your articles is that "you have a voice". Not everyone who writes has his/her own voice. You have it, so exploit it. To elaborate on this point, I dont have much interest in sports. But your way of writing, kind of compelled me to keep reading further.

About the length of posts; I think it depends on your target readers. If you writing for real sports-fanatics they would appreciate the details. For a general reader, length can be shortened.

      Have fun writing

    hi, thanks for the offer...

my blog "Life as i know it" is a little more than 8 months old. i'd love to get some feedback on this blog. thanks.

    1. MadAboutGifts
      Irtiza,
I had seen your blog earlier too.
I loved the header image which was up there earlier.

Now coming back to current design:
      1. Having 2 vertical columns is much neater. Earlier it was comparatively cluttered.

      2. Having comments on top of article is good, especially when you are sure your articles get them soon and in nice numbers.

      3. Again, the feedburner-reader count, and twitter-followers on top in side-bar is a wise thing to do. If you have it, you should flaunt it. lol

      4. But you have only 2 articles showing on one page; the rest are in "Recent posts". I think you can increase posts-per-page. It saves the reader's clicking time. And believe me, it matters. Internet-readers are mostly impatient bunch of people.... especially when there is so much on internet that is beckoning them.
    2. irtiza104
thank you so much for this review. i have increased the posts on the main page number to 3 now.
  4. jtsantos
My blog, dialysispostings.com is a journal of my life in dialysis treatment. I'm also hoping that through this blog, I could increase awareness on the disease and help instigate prevention.
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hi Jtsantos,
Hope you are getting better with each passing day.

My first suggestion is to do something about placement of your advertisements. Your blog has some serious content, and should be targeting that kind of audience. You may choose to move the ads a bit below on side bar, or perhaps place them after every post. The only reason why I say this is because your reader shouldnt leave your page thinking - 'It's just another frivolous blog' without even reading what you have written out there.

I also had an idea for your template. I remember seeing a template with "Diary-image" in the background. Since, your blog is a journal, this cosmetic change might look good.
    2. jtsantos
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions. I'll look into it and more likely follow your suggestions about the ads. Thanks so much!
  5. dosox
    I'd love it too
    1. MadAboutGifts
Ah! dosox. A blogger shouldn't be lazy, because the readers indeed are.
      And I'm your reader.

Please post your blog's link here.

Would be great to have my blog reviewed.

    lifepsychologyandalotmore.blogspot.com
    1. MadAboutGifts
Wow Saif, PhD in Pshycology. I'm in awe now :-D

I think it's great that you have "about me" section at top. Given your academic credentials, it immediately adds to the credibility of the author.

The header image gives the blog a nice spooky environment :-).

One thing I didn’t appreciate much on your blog was that all your posts appear one after the other without any breaks. I don't know where one ends, and where other begins. Do something about it. Maybe change the Title's color. If you know HTML, you can edit the HTML code to handle this problem. Else, you can try another template.

Regarding the content, it seemed a bit theoretical to me. I don’t know if that is intentional. If not, you can add some examples to add your theory.

      Cheers
    2. saiffarooqi
Well, i have just begun my PhD (its written that im doing my PhD), still quite some time to complete it.

about the posts being one after the other and not knowing when one ends and when the other begins ... well, i don't quite agree with that, i mean no one else has said that before. i think there's quite a clear distinction. but, i'll think about it.

as far as content goes. yeah, i deliberately write in such a way. i try to combine an academic as well as a general writing style so that it appeals to both a general audience and academicians. but, i think i have given examples where ever necessary.

Anyway, thanks for the review ...
    3. MadAboutGifts
As I said Saif, I'm one of your readers out there who has an opinion... whether you agree or not is a different matter altogether.

      Anyways, njoy

Since my life is devoted to simplicity, my blog is too. I prefer nothing to distract from the plain words on the page. I'd like the reader (if he or she is so inclined) to sit with one or two of my little sentences for a while and absorb whatever meaning from it they can.

    wwwaphorismscom.blogspot.com
    1. MadAboutGifts
The background color gels well with the serenity that you seek.
I like the satire in your style.

My only complaint (if I can call it so) your blog just has one post. Your readers would love to hear more from you.

I liked your poetry, and loved the line "God may be an atheist for all we know."

To share a favourite poem of mine which I wrote ages back, you can read "Words don't say a thing" @ mitajain.wordpress.com/poetry/
Though, it's not as profound as yours ;-)

Psst... I posted a comment there.
    2. nothingprofound
Madabout: Just read your lovely poem. Reminds me of one by Paul Verlaine, where he also relates the rain on the roof to the tears in his eyes and the pain in his heart. And yes; how can one possibly communicate such things?
  9. TigerXtrm
I'm curious to know what you think about my blog. It's mainly about my adventures at my school in the Netherlands where I study media.

    backstagemedia.net
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey Tiger,
My first impression as I landed on your page was "It looks professional."
The font and color of title "Backstage Media" is nicely done.

It could just be silly me, but I couldnt make out the subject of your blog by front page. I had to go to "about me" section (well, that section is definitely for people like me... lol.)
Maybe, you can add a subtitle on front page, to make the message of your blog clearer.

I like the tone of your articles. It's as if you are talking to readers directly.

      The advertisements are well placed.

      Thumbs up to your blog!
  10. Jen618
Take a look at my blogs and tell me what you think. I just started doing this not to long ago. Have any tips? Would love to hear as much feedback as possible. I'm all ears. Thanks.

      Hello there,
Your blog is not in English... It's in some language I don't understand.
I think I won't be able to do justice to a review for your blog.

      Sorry!

      Hey Derek,
      How are you doin today?
From the title of your blog "Misadventures of ~~~ " to the subtitle "Full of stories~~~" to the posts, I liked the tone of your blog.

The look is nice and crisp with the blend of blue and orange colors.

It's young, vivacious and interesting. Your blog should be targeting the young crowd, as they will be able to relate to the content the most.

Your friends will enjoy this a lot, because they know what actually happened before and after the stories posted here ;-)

Keep on writing the witty stuff! You're good at it.
    2. dbowles1017
Hey thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I'm doing dandy. And thanks again, it's always good to hear other peoples opinions.
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey,
      I visited your blog.
Since, your blog is about making money, adevertisements seem to be well placed.

I'm not sure if it matters to all readers, but there were a few grammatical/spelling mistakes which caught my eye. Before posting articles, just copy-paste your post in MS-word and run spell checker. It would help you.

I see that you are trying to help your readers by introducing them to certain "programs". It's a good thing to do. But in addition to that, I would suggest you to discuss some general tips and tricks which help in attracting traffic to blog, developing good content etc. It would help you build credibility over time.

      Cheers

      Hello,
The look and feel of your site is clean, as it should be for your content. It's neither dull nor over-the-top.

Your advertisements are at the bottom of your page. It's a good location to begin with. As your blog goes popular, you can shift that location to side-bar.

I feel you should move the categories up...perhaps in the side-bar. It would assist your readers in finding information quickly.

Hi. I have been blogging just over a month, and wouldn't mind a little feedback if you have the time. I'm not trying to make a living or any money off of it, but I do like sharing my random weird thoughts. I just enjoy the writing and trying to come up with stuff to make me and my family and friends snicker. The site is at:

      Hello George,
The layout of your blog is subtle, and I think it's good for the kind of content you have. It doesn't distract the reader and lets him/her enjoy your posts.

The polls on side bar are a great way to get the reader warmed up by participating in your blog.

Your writing style is quite witty and interesting. You seem to have a flair for it.

      Keep up the good work.

      music
      soundspasms.blogspot.com
    3. MadAboutGifts
      hello Siralmo,
      I visited soundspams.
Since, the blog contains lot of videos, the initial download time for the page is comparatively longer.

I liked that you have music videos in languages apart from English. It does capture a reader's interest. It's always nice to know more about what's happening in other corners of the world.

Your reviews are short and crisp. This is rather nice, because it gives a prelude to the video, yet gives the reader a chance to judge for himself/herself.

I enjoyed the blog. I plan to listen to the songs there as soon as I gather some free time.... Music is blissful :-)
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hello,
I liked the way you title your posts. They are intriguing and capture reader's interest immediately.

Your "about me" section reflects your credentials, and convinces a reader to spend more time reading what you gotta say.
Pictures have been optimally used in your content.

You know your subject, and it shows in your writing. Your posts have proper introduction, body and conclusion. Even though I'm not a sport fanatic, I actually read through your complete article on front page. Your blog's strength is your writing.

But the best thing about your blog is you don’t just speak about football or cricket. You cover various genres, and it pleases the curious bunch of people out there.

      Way to go!
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey Achyut,
      How are you?
I liked the layout of your blog. It's calm and collected.
You speak about a variety of subjects. It even has your own artworks and poetry. I liked your sketches. (To deviate from the subject you can visit www.artspan.com community. It's a great place for artists).
Overall, it's like a bouquet. Everyone will have something to read there.
One thing I would like to bring to your notice is that for your posts, background is chequered with grey lines. The content sitting over it is in black color. Both the colors are too close in intensity. At some places it really killed my eyes. I had to concentrate hard to read. But it could just be me:)

      Take care,
      Happy Blogging

      Hey Rudraksh,
      Wassup.
Your blog is all about emotions. You connect with the reader. You have some good content with your articles and poetry.

But I found your layout a bit dull for your content. I think an associated header image would do wonders for the cosmetic look and feel of your site.

      Cheers

      Hey folks,
I've been very busy lately. So, couldn't rely back. But today I got some time, and I sneaked in to BC.

      Sarah,
It's great tha you have the subtitle of your blog at the top. The reader instantly knows what you are gonna talk about, and it sets the mood.
Your writing seems honest to me. I started reading the latest post, and I couldnt stop. You write from your heart, and that would attract re-visits to your blog. And re-visits are one of the most important things a blogger seeks.

The background color of your blog is subtle, as it should be for such topics.

      Honest work. Good job.
  16. ArizonaAtheist
I kind of like what jonnyontheball said...

    Good luck : )

My blog is definitely controversial so I'm sure you'll likely get a variety of emotions from reading it. But I've had my blog reviewed at Blogged.com and I got an 8.0 rating out of 10. I was surprised, but I guess there are reviewers who can keep their personal feelings and beliefs out of ratings : )

We'll see what, if any, response I get. : ) I'm very curious.

Edit: Curious what my most currenet rating is, I went to Blogged.com and it went up to 8.2! I'm shocked.
    1. MadAboutGifts
Doesn't look like you need any review.

      Good luck!
  17. digitalbodega
    Hi! Here's my blog: lipstickaddict.blogspot.com

    Let me know your thoughts...thanks!
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey,
As I landed on your blog's page, the header was all pink and lively... very much in sync with your blog's name.

Your blog targets makeup fans. And I would say, such readers are generally searching for solutions for particular problems. I suggest you write posts for specific topics. For example, I read your post "What's in my bag". You just listed various products you carry. I think it would have been even more beneficial for reader, had you included why you carry that stuff and in which season. Hope you got what I'm trying to say.

The other posts were fine. But somehow, it's lacking a bit of zing. I don’t know how to explain that. Perhaps, visit some other famous makeup blogs for discovering the zing I’m talking about.

Also, your side-bar seems cluttered. Try re-adjusting your widgets and Advertisements.

      Good effort. Keep going on.

Btw, your blog is having an issue. As the page opens it says "operation aborted" and page crashes sometimes.
  18. AdolfoBlogs
    I completely agree.

Any serious opinion matters. Constructive criticism, positive or negative, goes a long way in improving as a blogger. I greatly appreciate it.

      Hey,
      How are you?

I visited your blog, and the featured post immediately caught my attention.
Titles of all your posts are provocative. They would help attract readers who are looking for some spiced up chatty topics.

Also, your page doesn’t have full posts. You give a teaser, and if the reader is enticed he/she can click to read further. This suits your style of blogging.

The background is subtle, giving the centre-stage to the pictures/videos/titles. That's good again.

Overall, I feel the highlight of your blog is the way you write just enough to make your reader click other pages. The blog is aptly done for the target readers. Yoohoo!
  19. wagerwitch
My blog is about Gambling - gambling promotions and online gambling.

If you're not comfortable with that topic - please, do not review my blog.

But if you don't mind - I'd love to see what you have to say about it!

    Take care!

    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey WW,
      Visited your blog wagerwitch.blogspot.com/.
The header image is great. Firstly, the image of young, smiling and friendly witch is rather sweet. And the texts in the header make it very clear about the subject of your blog. I like that. As a reader, I like to be clearly told about what the blogger would be speaking about. I don't like searching a blog frantically for 10 mnutes and then discovering that - "oh! I was not looking for this stuff". Hence, thumbs up to you here.

What trouble me was the length of posts. You need to talk more when introducing any casino group. Did you hear about it from your friend or did you try it yourself? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? I know you are passing on the deals, but I feel you need to get the reader connected. (I'm not a reader of casino blogs, so I could be wrong here :-) )

The advertisements are well placed , as it should be for such subject.

      Keep going on.

I would love to hear your feedback on my baseball blog (your reviews are very thoughtful)-

    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey Brian,
      How are you doin today?

I visited your blog. Again, I like the header. Good image and subject is made clear.

The background is plain white, and looks clean and crisp. It lets the reader concentrate more on the content.

The advertisements are very well placed. They are neither too less, nor poking their nose. Just apt. I like that.

Though, I'm not a big sports fan, I can guage that the content is well written for its target readers. You give detiled account of the matches, and I'm sure the baseball fans would love that.
My only suggestion would be to make the articles more personal...Maybe you can add a dash of humour sometimes, somewhere. Introduce a few polls sometimes to get your readers start participating actively.

      Good stuff.

Here's mine -> blog.onesuite.com It's about VoIP, Cheap Long Distance, Mobile phones, Gadgets, Savings, Fax etc.

I'm crossing my fingers right now...hope you like it.
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hello Osmkt,
I visited your blog. Initially, I wasnt sure what your blog was about. Also, it says "official blog". It was looking more commercial to me. So, I googled for OneSuite, and came to know about your products/services. Ah! moment of discovery.

Now, I looked at your blog with a new eye. I think it's a great way of promoting your business, and keeping in touch with your customers. I liked the line "Who got perked up". The articles are good, and value adding for readers. Many business travellers would appreciate this.

I went back to your business websie, and searched for a link for your blog on your main business homepage. I couldnt locate it. I used ctrl+f, and found it at the bottom corner in tini-tiny letters. You can consider moving "your blog link" to a more visible area.

      Good effort.

      Hey,
I visited your blog. Your header information was confusing to me. It says "i decided to give the of some free softwares i find in the net to them who need them but can't buy for money". If the softwares are free, why would someone need to buy it? That made me somehow feel uncomfortable with the credibility of info there.

Some articles were too short, some were too long. The first 2 articles were both about Adobe photoshop. The article on SpyPig wasnt too impressive. Hmmmm.

My friend, you need to work a little harder on your stuff. Look at other blogs in your genre. Keep going on.

      Hi Helen,
I visited your blog, and woohoo! I loved the line "I'll just take the whole menu, thanks". It makes it very clear that the blog is for big time food-fans (Just like me...lol.)

But unlike other blogs, you are not giving out recipes. You are sharing the experience and fun of eating food. And I think that's quite a novel idea. You've included pictures to add that visual impact.

      Good light-hearted stuff. Thumbs up.

      Hey Ashish,
The image of piled up dollars was funny in a nice way. As your blog is indeed about making money, you can go liberal with advertisements. You need to set the example, right!

You've added a payment proof too. Good way to add credibility.

      Hello PinkRose,
      How are you?
I visited your blog. It's cute. Your advertisements, though a bit too many, are not poking. They are small in size, and placed at the end of posts or side-bars.

You've got a big archive, and it shows u r a serious blogger.

You write about your personal experiences. This kind of blog takes some time to develop regular readership. So, keep up the good effort. Perhaps, you can email all your friends and family about it, and they can spread the word to make it even more popular.

      Hi Quaisar,
      Wassup with you?

Your blog is also crashing with "Operation aborted" error message. Even our blog had this error. We removed followers gadget etc. Also, try changing the comments format to pop-up.

There is no known fixed solution yet. Multiple people are suggesting multiple solutions. Some work for some people, some do not. Google the error and try fixing it.

    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hello Arjun,
To start with, it's a great subject to blog about. Many people would find it interesting.

I read few of your articles. And the first question that popped in my head was - where did you get all this info from? Perhaps, you are collecting info from some books, magazines, television channel (like History), or websites. And it's quite natural. Nobody can be an encyclopedia to know all this stuff by-heart. He/She would have to collect this info from somewhere.

It would be great if you add the "sources" of this informaion. It would add credibility, and exhibit your efforts. This is just my opinion. Please re-confirm with few other readers if they feel the same.

Also, as can include a few more photograhs for each legend, from various stage of their lives. It would add visual appeal.

      Keep up the good work.

Thank you for offering. I appreciate the review as this is my first blog.

    Looking forward to your feedback.
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hi Shrimpsey,
Howz blogging going on for you?

I visited your blog. It's a personal blog, and I think you can add a suitable header image, and a few colors to brighten it up. It's a bit dull for a personal blog and subject. You can add some symbolical images to start with.

The other thing I noticed is grammatical mistakes. Maybe English is not your first language, or they are just typing mistakes. I would suggest you to copy-paste your post in MS-word first and run "spell-check". It would correct obvious mistakes. And then you can paste it back to your blog and publish. Believe me... spelling/grammar mistakes are distracting. They break the flow of reading, and you don't want your reader to skip.

About the content, I feel it's quite philosophical. To keep up the reader's interest for longer, you can include some relevant live-examples in your post.

      Enjoy the blogging experience.

      Hi Amrhima,
      How are you?

I visited your blog. I liked it that you call it a diary. It immediately transforms the feeling. I felt like I'm opening a friend's diary kept on my desk.

I can't really evaluate the content as it is very personal in nature... it's about YOUR experiences in life. But I would suggest, try and not be so miffed with the negativity in the world. Try to present a balanced view. But again, it's a personal blog.. so there are no rights and wrongs. It was just my personal opinion.

Since, the blog is more like a diary, the plain background and white color suits.

      Enjoy blogging.

I am new to this game and would appreciate feedback. At this time my blog is primarily viewed by mom friends. I am self-teaching and it can take forever to find answers, so your comments re: improvement will help! www.methodicalmom.blogspot.com
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hi Methodical mom,
How are you and your Kids doing?

Your blog has some very practical tips for homemakers. I would suggest you to add a suitable picture for each post. For example, for "Put clutter in its place" you can post 2 pics - one room with clutter, and the other with everything in place.
For "Organizing fun in summertime" you can post a pic of a man/woman moving stuff in garage. I think it would add some visual interest to your blog.

      The advertisements are well placed.

Some articles seemed a bit repetitive. For example, in many posts I kept reading about garage/tools/cup-boards etc. I know when you are talking about organizing house, words and phrases can be repetitive. Try and use new adjectives and frame sentences in different ways. It might help.

Keep the effort going on. Gradually, your readership would grow beyond mom-friends.

I'd like to know what you think of my blog. I've currently overhauled it and installed a new theme and tweaked a few things. Let me know your opinion!

    www.backstagemedia.net
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey Tiger,
The website seemed a bit slow this time. Maybe that's because of the slideshow on home-page.
The categories (backstage/off-topic/exams) just below the slideshow are a great way to let the reader select his choice of posts. So, thumbs up to that.

The side-bar on top-right is empty though. You can move the login, subscriptions link, vote-appeal up there.

Advertisements are placed too low right now. Your reader might not get there at all. I think advertisements should be in near vicinity of your posts. They shouldn't break the reading experience, yet catch the eye if the reader is looking around.

Clicking on ads when you do not intend to purchase a product is called click fraud. Encouraging fraudulent clicks on ads is a breach of Google Adsense policies that will result in banning and blacklisting.

      TimeThief is right, Lavery.
We can help each other improve our blogs. But the ad-clicks should come naturally. Else, it won't work out in longer run.
    3. LAveryBrown
Gosh, I honestly didn't know that. I've only been doing the blog thing for about a month. (I thought it was only the writer who wasn't supposed to click on ads) In the future I'll make sure to just describe the blog. Thanks!
    4. MadAboutGifts
It's alright, Lavery. It happens. And that's why we all are here.... to help and inform each other about Do's and Don'ts. So take it easy.

You can google about adsense policies or click on following links to clarify your doubts.

    HI!

    Here's my blog: wtbritney.blogspot.com

Well, to be honest, (don't laugh!) it's a Britney Spears fan site...
I post up everyday. Be sure to check it out!

    Thanks A Bunch!
    1. MadAboutGifts
      Hey Toby,
Ah! a britney spears fan blog! No, I won't laugh at you at all because I remember the ol' days when I was a fan of backstreet boys myself (not any more, though...I promise). lol.

I like the header image of britney. White shines against the black background.

The translation options are great too, and loved the "stuff to do" section... I can now sing along with Britney ;-) The mixpod widget is kool.

It's also nice that you provide the reader with links to official website in "navigation" section. That gives the reader a nice sense of dependency on your blog. He/she might feel - hey, this blog is like one-stop-shop for all information about Britney.

Your posts mainly include recent pictures of Britney, which would be quite appreciated by the fans. I would suggest, along with posting her pictures you should 'talk' about her a little more. I'm sure you will get a lot of news from television or magazines, which you can use as the base. You can also talk about her past, family, career, pics as a child etc. This kind of stuff is cherished by fans.

Overall, it's a kool fan blog. Just include more content along with pics.

      Cheers

Dear MadAboutGifts, thank you very much for your review. As you said, some of my posts are short and some are long. I want to show only certain length in the first page of the blog but i don't know how to adjust it. I want to show all the five posts in the first page with a particular length so that if someone wants to read the full article, he has to click on the post. But the full post, whatever it is length is displaying there. Can anyone tell me how to adjust it?
