i really liked him as a comedian and comedic actor - i'm really shocked and saddened to learn he's died of pneumonia early this morning after spending a week in the hospital. early reports say the pneumonia was not related to his sarcoidosis, which has been in remission since '05.

He wasn't on the box much over here, but what I saw I liked.

Bernie Mac too? WHY MUST ALL GOOD COMEDIANS DIE?!

Sam Kinison, Rodney Dangerfield, George Carlin, Bernie Mac. Jeff Dunham, Robin Williams, Stephen Lynch, and the other decent comedians better stay healthy... if for no other reason, than to work on their act.

Soon we're gonna have only crap comedians like Mencia left.

      lol

i can never decide if i like mencia or not. some of his stuff is funny ... much of it is just annoying.

bernie mac, otoh, i just adore. i mean adored. damn.
    2. jafabrit
I can't explain it, but I rather find mencia squirmingly entertaining, perhaps its his lack of political correctness.
    3. ender
some of mencia's poking at political correctness is, i think, good and important. some of it is just tasteless and too far for me. that's why i can't quite make up my mind about him.

Uh. Dude. George Carlin is dead.

      Look closely at the punctuation.

When Robin Williams passes I will be infinitely sad. He has always been one of my favorite actors.

  6. bjtilt
At just 50 years old he was far too young to die.

Gheesh! That's too bad; he was really good at what he did.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I watched a program he was on a while ago, he wasn’t joking or acting, he was so down to earth and real. I really appreciated his views.

A major loss for the entertainment media!

I have to admit - I cried when I saw the headline. I absolutely adored him in the Ocean's movies. The kids have Mr. 3,000 and liked him as well.

This is a sad day for comedy and for entertainment in general. I will truly miss Bernic Mac and am deeply saddened by his loss.

I am running a full report and memorial to Mac on my website at opinionstreams.com/blog/?p=31 if anyone wants to drop a line of tribute there.

I watched and enjoyed all his movies roles, especially Mr. 3000 and occasionally enjoyed his T.V. show. But what I most loved about Bernie was his in-your-face stand-up. Man, I'm gonna miss him!

His Southside Chi-town humor will be missed. He is one of the greats who died way to soon. I had the pleasure of seeing him live in Savannah, Ga. back in 1991. He was great and I'll always remember that time. R.I.P Mr. Mac.

It's such a shame, and it happened so suddenly. I was actually going to write a blog post about him getting better (as was reported yesterday). He will surely be missed.

    Oh, that's a shame!

Glad to read about this here and know about it, though, than be surprised by the news later.

  23. DrowseyMonkey
Yeah, I just heard this. Just yesterday I heard he was in the hospital. Sad. I watched his show a few times ... and liked it. It was different from most sit coms.

First I heard of it. Very very sad.

There were times that he was homophobic, abelist and anti-woman. I often felt conflicted liking his comedy. I still have to admit that the man made me laugh.
  30. barryfromtexas
I thought he had a good show, and he was good in movies. %0 is young to die, but then I am 51 so I can see how I think it is young to die.

OMG, all week I've been hearing that he was in the hospital with pneumonia, but they said yesterday that he was getting better! Wow, what a blow...He was a good one. RIP Bernie.
