Today (May 1st) is RSS Awareness day. I thought It would be interesting to find out how people feel about RSS. I learned from other site owners that many of their readers have said they don't know how to subscribe to feeds and therefore pass over them. I never thought to explain the process. But maybe it is a good idea.

Feeds are a great convenience for me. But I have to admit, I initially did not like the idea of feeds as a blog publisher. I thought it would stop people from visiting the site. If more visitors knew how to subscribe do you think it would increase readership to your blogs?

Interesting - But your feed does not have to show youe entire post - thus - if you wanted them to go to your site - and they actually wanted to - they would.

I like RSS - I have at least 50 I am subscribed to and received a bunch more in email. Makes it an easr-to-find way to keep track.

I'm sorry, but May 1st has more interesting associations than RSS. Strange day to choose for it.

I sent flowers to the folks at Feedburner. I heart them.

No seriously, someone has determined today as RSS Awareness Day. In a sense its amusing which is why I thought it would be fun to get some feed back. But on the other hand, remembering what it was like for me to come to the Internet for the first time, access the web, learn the strange language of the Internet, that's when it got a wee bit more serious. Don't know if we needed a RSS Awareness day but the subject of another tool that causes people frustration on the Web got my attention.
