I had an experience yesterday that I thought was very rude. It brings up issues of assumptions about age groups, looks, wallet, and 'are you allowed to window shop?'
My boyfriend and I look quite young, and we were dressed in jeans and tshirts, but there were animals and rides to go on, good clothes were not appropriate. Plus we were just looking at a display.
I don't think they counted on me being a blogger.
I've deliberately named the company.
What do you think of this? Or is it reasonable treatment?

I personally think this is a wash.
Yep - that salesman was rude.
Yep - BF sounded pretty cocky.
Yep - poor taste for salesman to ask for credit card
Yep - possible young people may buy these type of chairs or medical equipment for senior parents or grandparents etc
All in all - I would do exactly what you did - blog about it - but, remove the name of the company in question. There may be a legitimate reason, or the salesmen's actions may not be representative of the company's policy. I would also publish any reply you get, for both sides of the story (let the readers decide who's right) but, I would still leave the massage chair company as an anonymous vendor at this time.
just my 2cents-
He genuinely thought the guy was joking with 'and how many will *you* buy', hence his reply about 'three'. And he genuinely did want to know about the chair, so that's why he asked.
I might edit it so that it's more about the one sales guy rather than the whole company, but I don't know if I'll take the name of the company out.

Wow this scenario sounds familiar. Years ago there's this columnist here who went into a bookstore but was treated rudely by the sales rep so she wrote it on national paper plus the name of the company .The reason? They would not let her use the phone. But like PetLvr said this could not be really what the company stands for. And yeah people are...well people. They can be good or bad at times. In my case I go directly to the manager to file a complain. That way it is not written in paper or web and that way miscommunication will be avoided.

Well, I am trying to contact the actual company. I don't know if I'll be able to get his manager, I do'nt know how his system works.
I doubt it's what the whole company stands for, but I also don't really think I'm ranting about the entire company. The name of the company is the only way I have to identify this guy. And I would'nt be surprised if it was policy either, as massage chair people can be really snobby like that, from many discussions I've had over the past few days. -
I hope that the company responds in an appropriate way, if they do get back to you. They definitely need to deal with whoever was running that stall!

Send them an email that someone from (name your newspaper here) want to talk to you about this situation. You might get a faster response.
That was very rude. People should not assume you do not have funding. what if your dad was a movie director, or nonetheless, very wealthy?
My parents had one of those chairs when they first cam on the scene. They only cost $2,000 back then, but it took them a while to pay in off.
