It was a very sad night for us in San Antonio, Texas where the BC live.
We had a huge 4 alarm fire that destroyed one of our historical buildings
(Our Lady of the Lake University). I went to school there and the grade school which I also attended was right across the street.
it was a very emotional evening as I watched it burn down.

    oh NO!

    hurries to read articles

    EDIT
that's just heartbreaking, Angie. i hope it turns out that it was NOT arson, but just an accident. it's even worse to think about losing a place like that deliberately.
    it was a beautiful building.

it doesn't look good, but i'll keep my fingers crossed that there's enough structure left to rebuild on top of what still stands.

As I watch the video, I still can not believe it.

      Thanks Ender,
They have not said what the cause was yet, but they are thinking it was due to some electrical problems, but not confirmed yet.

    @AngieA
What a shame. I was just reading about it here and I sure hope it wasn't arson cms.firehouse.com/web/online/News/4-Alarm-Fire-Hits-University-in-San-Anton...
"An arson unit was called to the scene. It's unknown if the fire has anything to do with a bomb threat that was called in to the University on Monday.
Students say there has been false fire alarms for weeks. A bomb threat was discovered in a bathroom on Monday and led to an evacuation, but nothing was found. A trash can fire also was reported earlier in a building across the street from the one that burned. It was quickly doused."

Yes, Timehief, you are correct. The day before there was a bomb threat but it was false and they do not think the 2 were related.
But, who knows. I am sure we'll know more later on today as they are investagating at the moment.

      Thank you Anok.
Wish we had some ninja investigators to figure this out.

    Sad to hear.

I grew up on the Nortwest side of San Antonio, by Lakeland AFB, so this kinda hits at the heart for me.

      RTBjr73,

Good to hear your from SA, you should come down and visit us.
We are by Bandera and Eckhert.

ahhhhhhh....good to hear street names like that.

I still cry over a few things that I miss there...Pancho's, first and foremost...Whataburger, H.E.B., KISS radio, WOAI radio, Missions baseball.

did I mention Pancho's? is there still one located at Marbach and Loop 410?

That's awful, sorry to hear. I can't imagine how that must've felt.
    1. AngieA
      Thank you Danz,

Strangely... I felt as if I was losing an old friend.

I saw that on the news. My sympathy for everyone for whom that building and its contents were part of their memory.

Awful news - but glad to know that you guys are okay at least.

Oh no, that's horrifying. I have an old friend who graduated from Our Lady of the Lake back in the late 60s (see, I really do mean old friend).

I hope this does not turn out to be arson. It won't undo the fire, but at least it would take the meanness factor away.

Although sadden by the fire and currently living REAL close to there it bothers me ALOT more the senseless Murders here everyday that apparently go with the territory. If my little apt complex is any indication of whats going on in this country we're in Big TROUBLE.In a building with 8 units there's 3 occupants I have watched countless people throwing all their stuff into a used car and moving on to........
My apt is 550 if people can't afford that? Also going downtown is a trip for every 100 people there's 60 tourists/out of towners and the rest are people in various states on homelessness and insanity.I have my work cut out for me:)As far as BC I "tried" to say hello a few times to no avail.I often find people here slightly friendly but no real deepth, which is all good cause I have a lot to do.Oh one good thing about here the weed is cheap:)and the women are FINE
  13. AngieA
Looks like we have more BC members then I thought that live close to us here in Texas.

How many of you are in Texas?
