'Dancer In The Dark' starring Bjork. It takes me at least 1/2 hr to recover from that movie even though I've watched it before.

"Noce Blanche", starring Bruno Cremer and Vanessa Paradis.

Sad movies to me are those close enough to sad realities. I've recently watched "The constant gardener" and it made me feel bad for some days.

Are movies sad b/c it's close to your reality or another's you may not have seen?

Playing for Time - A film about a group of Jewish musicians in Auschwitz who perform for the Nazis so they can stay alive. After watching the film at the age of 12 /13 I lay awake all night crying because I was so appalled at what I had witnessed. Vanessa Redgrave plays the part of Fania Fenelon and it is by far the saddest film I have ever seen.

That sounds like a good movie. I actually looked for it on the net but couldn't find it to download. You've got my interest

Requiem for a Dream is pretty sad. It's a drug film, sort of like a more depressing and American version of Trainspotting.

Among current films, "After the Wedding", by Suzanne Bier. Sad and uplifting at the same time, like a Greek tragedy. Powerful, powerful emotions.

'Seven Pounds' was a good movie. 'After the Wedding' looks interesting. Some foreign films are awesome. Canadian films are great b/c they often don't end up with a closed happy ending. Why do I/we like sad movies some times?

I like Bjork and yes i think that movie is so sad. Mine would be A Home at the End of the World.

Saddest movie for me is Susan Hayward's "I Want to Live."
