    This is an easy game. If you would like to play - welcome!

    (2) Artists: Name two or three different artists who perform it.

    (3) Preference and Link: If you'd also like to share which artist's rendition your prefer please feel free to do that, and include a link to an online audio or video version of it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'll start with:
    (1) Love Song: How Do I Live Without You?
    (2) Artists: LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood
    (3) Preference and Link: Faith Hill
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=QflsxFDDja4
    (4) Reason: I think this is a wonderful love song and I love singing it to my husband every now and then. He tells me he likes the way I sing it best (he's prejudiced, of course), but he does tear up when I sing it to him, because he knows I mean every word of it.
    Smile, written by Charlie Chaplin and performed by Johnny Mathis, Jermaine Jackson and ? It is apropos to life and the many ups and downs.
      Oh WOW, I love that song and had never heard Faith Hill sing “How do I Live Without You”
      Also fell in love with Nicolas Cage in Con-Air where the song was featured. He sure did work out for that movie. His body was so …………….. yumie is the word.
      Oh sorry back to the Q.
      So, it use to be LeAnn Rimes, but now “Faith Hill” sounds better to me, or could it be the hot video that turned me on more?
      Gosh, I am finding it hard to decide now. : /
    4. celticmusicfan
      I go with Faith Hill's version. there is something about contralto singers.
    5. AngieA
      Ok...I agree
        I'm glad you liked Faith Hill's version. My husband says I sound more like Trisha Yearwood and he's right.
      this song reminds me of the movie Switch starring Ellen Barkin and Perry King back in 1991 ...also the lyrics affirms life's strentgh despite all difficulties with relationships.
        CelicMusicFan,
        Sorry man, I cant do the “Enya” rating. I love all kinds of music, but “Enya”, well….it’s asking way too much of me, it hurts my ears.
        But your 2nd request.
        I would have to say Judy Collins sang it better.
      2. timethief
        @celticmusicfan
          Re: Both Sides Now
          I am familiar with Joni and Judi's versions but I strongly prefer the 1991 duet with Clannad, taken from the film 'Switch'. This song appeared on the 1991 Greatest hits album - From Time To Time.
      3. celticmusicfan
        I know Angie...a lot of people feel the same way too, though I don't see how 'quiet music' can hurt the ears
      True Colours / colors - as far as I know has been done by both Cindy lauper and phil collins. I actually like phils version better (pretty sure he wrote it too)
      1. timethief
          It's a beautiful love song, for sure. "True Colors" is a song written by professional songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. It was both the title track and the first single released from Cyndi Lauper's second album. It was the only original song on the album that Lauper didn't help write.
          PHIL COLLINS - TRUE COLORS (BEST VERSION)
          I'm with you on True Colors. I wasn't into it when Cyndi did it either. I strongly prefer Phil's version.
            There are many versions of it that I can post links to but I won't do that. Here's almost a spoken word version.
            My first choice is Dionne's version -- hands down!
            My second choice is Cilla Black's version, which I hadn't heard until today. And my third choice is Elvis Costello & B. Bacharach's version.
      5. celticmusicfan
        Did you check out maureen McGovern's version? That's also a good one.
        (4) Reason: I love this song and I truly like both the original version by Lionel Richie, as well as, David Cook's rendition, the rock beat he put on it was fantastic and I wish he would have sung it complete.
        Great post TT!
        (3) Preference and Link: Modern English, hands down!
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuN6gs0AJls
        (4) Reason: I like Jason Mraz a lot but, I did NOT like the version he did of this song for the movie "50 first dates" (sorry, I couldn't find a video of this version). The original song is a classic and Jason's version is a little boring.
        1. timethief
          @deray
          I have never heard this group or the song before. Thanks for posting it.
      10. celticmusicfan
        I think there are two existing videos for this Modern English song. One was done when it was a hit in 1985...another is a latter version , a hippiesque take on the video.
        1. Deray28
          The hippiesque version is the Mraz version I like the 80's way better!
      11. celticmusicfan
        no the one done by modern english. not the mraz version because i heard that. the hippiesque version has the band singing on the field on sunflowers.
          @Angie
            I like the lyrics in Because of You but Kelly Clarkson's voice does not impress. IMO she doesn't know how to sing and could benefit from vocal coaching.
        2. Stillthinking
          Oh I disagree. I think Kelly Clarkson is a really good singer and probably the best to ever emerge from American Idol.
        3. timethief
            Hmmm ... I didn't see American Idol. I rarely watch the tube and don't know if we get that show up here. This youtube is all I have to go on. Perhaps I made a snap judgment and I should have reserved my opinion until I heard more.
      14. wagerwitch
        I think BC is not working well right now...LOL
        But I have extreme eclectic taste in music:
        Here are a couple that I found and remembered - cause this was bothering me all night.
        Tainted Love - Marilyn Manson and Soft Cell
        I loved Soft Cell's version of it - but Manson did a rock up job.
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTcPIAewhMg
        above is manson
        below is soft cell
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cCI_XDQWb0
        The song was originally Gloria Jones with Where did our Love go...
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSehtaY6k1U
        Which is, probably the BEST Singer Version....
        I love this song because it's totally someone who is in love telling the other person that shape up now...
        1. legbamel
          I have an awesome mashup called Tainted Tainted Love with the Soft Cell vocals over the Gloria Jones music. www.mashuptown.com/2009/01/gloria-jones-vs-soft-cell-mashed-by-copycat.html Personally, I can't stand Marilyn Manson. The Gloria Jones version is okay, but Soft Cell really did the best job on this one.
        2. celticmusicfan
          I agree that Marilyn manson's version rocked more.
        3. wagerwitch
          Dang Leg - totally rockin' on that one!
        You Really Got Me
        Kinks and Van Halen
        And you know I love the Kinks over Halen ANY day... LOL!
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvyDWGF290M
        And this one is cool - cause I sang it to my current hubby and inserted the words Boy - for Girl - and did it at a karaoke party - before we got married.
        1. legbamel
          This is another of my favorites, for which I've collected versions. The Kinks own the song, but I do have a soft spot for the Oingo Boingo version. not-pop-jukebox.com/2009/04/you-really-got-me-kinks-and-others.html
          OK, now we're talking Broadway. I have a soft spot for Broadway. I don't care what anyone might say:
          Michael Ball: Love Changes Everything
          www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnLE0N87T6k
          I know, totally cheesy, but man, I LOVE IT!
          Aspects of Love is probably my favorite ALW musical.
          I especially love this song:
          www.youtube.com/watch?v=njkKkwDu0ZM&feature=related
          The Vogueing party guests especially crack me up, but the song is just delightful.
          Re: "The Music of the Night"
          I ♥ Josh Groban's voice and chose his version. I had not heard Mi Mancherai violin before. She's so good that the hair stood up on my arms. What a beautiful combination! Thanks for posting that "little extra treat".
        3. AngieA
          @StillThinking,
          Broadway Cheesy?
          No Way, the only reason someone would say Broadway is cheesy is b/c they don't know any better and more then likely have never been to a Broadway Show before. Once you see a Broadway Musical show live, you are hooked.
        4. Stillthinking
          Angie you are preaching to the choir!
          I love Broadway, both classic and the big pop operas. I always imagined myself playing Miss Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls", Eponine in "Les Miserables", or Roxie Hart in "Chicago".
          However much I love opera, I don't have an operatic voice. I have more of a pop voice which is more suited to light Broadway show tunes. *sigh*
      30. celticmusicfan
        I know Josh is a looker. But Michael Ball is memorable to me.I love his deep mysterious baritone.
          Meh ... Josh's voice gets my vote.
          @timeThief,
          I love Josh Groban's voice also and he has my vote as well.
          SO glad you enjoyed Mi Mancherai as its one of my favorite songs he sings.
          The first time I had that song I had chills all over my body as the music is truly amazing.
          I do agree with your choice. I prefer Rufus Wainwright's version. This is a great Leonard Cohen song. Unfortunately, it's been overdone by too many and needs a rest IMHO.
        Love Song: Our Love is Here to Stay
        Artists: Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Johnny Mathis, Joni James
        *scratches head with all those choices*
        1.Pavarotti-His voice , my goodness, nothing could describe it's awesome power!
        2.Bocelli-Yeah very good but not as better as senior P.
        3.Carreras-He does have strength at lower registers but his upper ranges are trying.But I give him extra points for charisma.Maybe even better than Bocelli.
        4.Potts-He somehow wavered at the final part and his voice thinned down.
        5.Bolton-Enuf said. I am a purist
        Bruce Springsteen
        10,000 maniacs
        www.youtube.com/watch?v=H14R4ZsMM0E
        They're all very good-the song is very good, co-written by both Patti Smith and Springsteen but I would take the 10,000 Maniacs version. There is no beating Natalie Merchant's voice.
        1. AngieA
          Celtic, you would be right again.
          Her voice is much better for this song, though Bruce sure does make it exciting with his backstreet band……no? We have to give him a close 2nd.
          OK...just for that, I am going to have to get another song for you to review.
          Stand by.
        Song: I've Got You Under My Skin
        Performers: Frank Sintra, Steve Lawrence, Eartha Kitt, Mel Torme, Louis Prima, Diana Krall, Michael Buble, and many more
        Favorite Version: Sinatra off his "Live at the Sands" album
        1. AngieA
          Ok…Sinatra is just “original” so he gets my vote.
          I love Michael Buble, and again its one of those things when it’s the band that makes him sound a tab better. BUT, with this song he sounds like he has mouth full of marbles. ?
          Sinatra / Bono - just funny
          Steve Lawrence was like 2 beats ahead of the music, so he’s out, others didn’t come close.
        2. timethief
          @legbamel
            I agree with Angie & Celtic. Frank Sinatra gets my vote. However, I'd like to share another version with you.
        1. AngieA
          Yup, The Man With The Voice gets my vote.
          Being Welsh does give him favor.
          Now you made it very difficult for me to decide. Musically I'd take Joe Cocker's version.I love it and it is raw being the original.Vocally I'd go for Tom Jones. And yes he is Welsh so I am partial on that LOL.
        Was going to do the song “KISS” which was done by “Prince” or rather the artist formally known as Prince. But found out that that he actually took off all of his music OFF the internet.
        Did you know that?
        Heather nova
        There is something so tempting about this song...beautifully written and so intimate.
        I like Bruce version...but heather also has that sensual touch that gets under your skin
