If you have ever watched the Scooby Doo cartoon series, you will know a couple of the characters use reason and logic to solve mysteries that at first seem to have supernatural causes but in the end always end up having natural explanations. I think it is a great show for kids that teaches them how to think and solve problems. I would recommend it for kids and adults alike. I give Scooby Doo two thumbs up!

I used to watch that show all the time. Detective stories always interested me when I was younger. Now I don't care about other peoples' problems.

You rock. Scooby Doo is a staple at our place.

We went on our first ghost rally last weekend, and it was great to see my boys reason their way through the spooky clues. (Of course, they insisted that we bring along 'scooby snacks' to bolster their courage. NutterButters did the trick.)

I'm a fan of the series as well. The movie, not so much.

I have watched my share of this in my life. Have you ever noticed the girls and thier short skirts. In the movi4es they give panty shots. (pointed out by hubby) My 5 year old is addicted to the cartoons but I will not let him watch the mvies due to the clothes the woemn wear

I've never seen the movie. But mine are addicted to the classic show, not the new version.

"The music's better... and so are the monsters," my six-year old claims.

Actually they quite often end with the human perpertrators, exploiting a local ghost story, unmasked but go on to indicate the actual mystery exists.

Trying to think of a more appropriate example of popular culture that would better make the point you are trying to make... Ah, of course, Sherlock Holmes would be polybore's choice.

I've often heard Scooby-Doo was a about 'stoners'. You agree?

If Scooby got stoned off of scooby snacks, than yes.

As a kid I always felt very pleased with myself when I could solve "Whodunnit." Even if it was formulaic.

Did you ever get to see the Cartoon Network's Scooby spoof on the Blair Witch Project? Done part in live action and part cartoon, all with handheld cameras... Hysterical.

I love Scooby. When I was a kid, I started to listen to Kasey Kasum's top 40 and it drove me crazy because I recognized his voice but had no clue where from. Turns out he's Shaggy.

And we just found out this year that Velma is voiced by Natalie from 'The Facts of Life'.

      Jinkies.

Casey Kasem was also Alexander from Josie and the Pussycats. As a kid, it confused me to death.

Really? I can't picture her as Velma.

Lol! I barely remember Josie and The Pussy Cats. I remember the song and that's it. Scooby made far more reruns and I had a thing for Spiderman. I think Spiderman conflicted with Josie. Even at a young age I liked men in tights.

Mindy Cohn ("Natalie") has only voiced Velma this decade. Nicole Jaffe is the original Velma

(But I haven't watched the original Scooby-Doo series in English, so I wouldn't be able to tell who's better!)

Friday... have you been wikipedia-ing again??

      Shame.

As a kid I didn’t care much for Scooby Do. It was sorta boring. I kept waiting for something new. But no…all the cool monsters were guys with masks. There was no suspense. I preferred Godzilla movies. Notice that the recent Scooby Do movies tossed aside rationality for spectacle.

Speaking of movies, its amazing that ‘Paranormal Activity’ was made for $15,000 and as I write this grossed over $62,000,000. What a great get-rich-quick story…somebody is making big $$. Instead of blogging, we should be directors!

I have always been a lover of cartoons! Scooby Doo is just one of the many I've enjoyed!
