SEO most critical points

I have visited quite a few sites on SEO and I have some questions about it

First off I use wordpress and have the "all in one SEO" plugin installed. to the best of my knowledge I have made my title and keywords the best that I could think of

Title

Home Description
I am just a bald guy talking about Life, Family, God, Music, Religion, and Politics

Tags
Life, Family, God, Music, Religion, Politics

So here are my questions.

should I have meta tags on all my posts too?

are my keywords accurate enough or should I find key "phrases" ?

I have horrible traffic, like 10 to 20 hits a day. I have changed my design, played with SEO removed all Ad content.. and nothing seems to work.

The readers that I do have seem to enjoy my content as my bounce rate is good. my subscriptions are slowly growing but not very well... any Ideas what I am doing wrong?

You've mentioned that you have installed a plugin to your blog which is the "all in one SEO pack". That was very helpful so that your blog will be crawled by google. And of ourse, in every post you should include meta tags. That will help your blog to be more known. Also do link building, I'm sure you will no longer get a horrible traffic. Try to take a look some tips on my blog philippineseoexperts.wordpress.com.

1. yes you need to target some key phrases.
2. not many people are searching for random bald guys, and if they are you blog will disappoint them.
3. You can't do on page SEO, call it good and go to sleep. You HAVE TO PROMOTE.
a. get links
b. post comments
c. post articles.
d. get more links.
e. participate in relevant forums.

Your title is showing ...
front page = blog title
single pages = blog title / post title ..

I've been going with stuff like this:
front page = blog title
or
front page = blog title / tagline
single pages - post title / blog title

// How I do my options (may not be right) //

Home Title - title of your blog
Home description - tagline
Home Keywords - tags, etc
Canonical - ticked
Rewrite - not ticked
post title format - %post_title% | %blog_title%
etc etc .. basic stuff
Use categories for meta - I tick that
etc etc .. basic stuff

  so are tags the same as "meta tags" cause I tag all of my posts for the tag cloud, but All in one SEO has a "meta tags" field

  Jason,
  Tags and Meta tags are two very different things. To put it simple, tags are what your readers see, met tags are what search engines see. While tags are for reader convenience, meta tags are for honing your position in search engine results.
