What distribution channels have people used to push out press releases for SEO purposes?
www.pr.com seems not to have generated many backlinks for us.
www.prweb.com seems expensive, but does it distribute more widely?

I've written a series on PR marketing, that might help you.
The question is not only what system you used, but if one system is generating better than others. Maybe its the release itself that isn't being picked up.

for example, i just put out a release on pr.com; when i enter the exact title of the article into search, the first result is a link to a pr.com page that does not feature my article, but includes it amongst 30 others.
it appears on a yahoo news search, but points back to the pr.com page that hosts the article.
