I know how to add meta tags to my HTML for blogger/blogspot.
I have learned how to add "if conditions" so that each page can have it's own meta tags: keywords, description, etc.
So I have meta tags for my homepage and I have meta tags for ONE other post.
In order to get meta tags for ALL of my post I need to repeat the same 3 lines of the coding in the HTML and keep substituting the URL in the coding for the URL of the post that I want.
That means I would have to repeat the code over 200 times now, and would have to keep repeating it every time I added a new post. That's insane to do. Not only that but doing that would surely slow down my site. All those lines of coding.....
In my mind, I'm thinking there's got to be ONE code that I can add that will give each individual post it's own meta tags. That perhaps this one code could lift the "labels" that are applied to each post and use those labels for THAT post as the meta tag-keywords for THAT post.
On the same note, how do I keep google from lifting the stuff in my sidebar as the short description for a post (URL) that does not have meta tags?
It makes it look really bad in a google search that the short description is just a bunch of random words from the sidebar. I would like it if I didn't have meta tags for that post (URL) that it would at least lift the beginning of the actual post as the description and not the stuff in the side bar.
I know, all the more reasons to leave blogger/blogspot, but honestly I'm comfortable with where I'm at...I just want to know how to make it work the best I can.
