I don't think Serena should even be number 2.

Consistency outside the slams should be important.

Are you saying she should be lower or higher??

It seems pretty clear she can beat anyone when she feels like it.

I get the sense she doesn't really feel like much of the time. And she also focuses on the slams.

What happened to Justine Henin? Retired for good?

I am saying she should be lower.

She may be the most talented but she needs to be more consistent outside the slams

They have ranked tennis players the same way for quite some time and feel it is the best way to do it. I think she is better than most of what is out there right now though. They rank them over the year, and the slams do get more points - they also have more pressure and you are usually playing better players which is partially why they give higher points for winning the slams — but they also get points taken away for losing.

    It works for me.

Maybe, but don't you think it makes a mockery of tennis outside the slams when somebody like serena who may well be the most talented doesn't come up with the goods?

I think the WTA need to promote pro tennis as a sacrifice to be made all year round so they should give slightly less points to slams. Maybe 1500 instead of 2000.
