Gack. That sort of thing perpetuates the stereotype of women as gossiping, backstabbing, two-faced, shallow children, at least that's how the ads make it appear. I refuse to watch it.
As a rule, we watch House instead. I'm only on now because the Xbox had to go in for service and there's no House on today since the season ended last week. [sniff]-
My high school was full of mean girls.
Sample meanness: my gym class was girls only. One day, after class, the head mean girl got up and starting walking back and forth in front of the entire class. She started studying everyone while saying "Who is my fat pigeon? We all know who the fat pigeon is? My fat pigeon has green eyes! My fat pigeon has black hair!" My friend who has green eyes and black hair burst out into tears. The mean girl actually started laughing and TAUNTED her for being sensitive. -
You didn't go to my high school. We all got predictions in our senior issue school paper: most successful, best smile, whatever.
My best friend and I got most likely to replace Siskel and Ebert on their TV show. She was tall and thin. I was short and heavy, a whole whopping 15 pounds overweight. Oooh.
You can refuse to believe all you want, but there is a reason I refused to go to my high school reunions and why I don't speak to people from high school outside my closest friends. They were vicious snobs.
I like Gossip Girl because it makes fun of the snobbery, the meanness, the materialism. The vacuous, shallow girls are the ones who are despised on the show. Blair, as fun as she is, ultimately gets her ass handed to her time and time again because she's mean and manipulative.
In real life though, mean girls rarely get their comeuppance.

Anything that is about relationships and is a story that always continues. In other words, it picks up right where it left off, as opposed to starting with a completely different story every episode.
I used to watch Days of our Lives when I was a kid. I don't watch soap operas anymore but every now and then I'll tune in just out of curiosity and they have the exact same story lines! The same people died and came back to life for the 20th time, the same people are splitting and getting back together....and the same evil twins are resurfacing.
