I think all blogs have potential of making money. I add adsense, just for the heck of it! Where is your blog located?

It is a personal choice. Unless your site has oodles of visitors, it is a mute point. Why not use the space to build content in order to drive traffic to your blog?

It's always an added value for your blog to make money. It's something that worth working for and it will always keep you motivated to make more money by adding distinguished posts.

As said before, unless you have a blog with a really high PR and a really low Alexa score, advertising like AdSense isn't gonna do much for you. I you choose to write blogs for others while incorporating your own original content into you blog, good for you, but you better have a lot of time on your hands.

Its a personal choice I think. My blog is about my trek making money online via different ways so I'll of course have some advertising on it. I probably won't be doing any type of pay per post or paid website reviews on my blog mainly because I personally don't like to skip through those posts on some peoples pages to get to their regular content. Most times those paid posts won't have comments on them to discuss with people with. That's just my 2 cents though.
People blog for different reasons, and well I know alot of people start blogging because they see big $20k/month incomes from the big bloggers thinking it'll be easy to get there. Then 3-6 months later when they get an Adsense check for $40 bucks they stop. Why? Because their whole purpose is to make money easy. When the money doesn't come easy they bail. -
I am new to blogging, and I put adds on my blogs and website. My intent is to see what happens. I get excited when I make just a few cents from the adds. Just like the thrill I get when an auction for some old stuff gets a bid, It's a little excitement. Who knows, some people say they make money on the internet, but maybe thats just from selling stuff about making money on the internet.

It's your blog. It's up to you to make money off your blog.
These were the questions I asked myself before I decide to pull off most of the ads on my blog.
How much time and effort do yo spend on your blog? How much do you expect to get back from your blog? Do you just want to make extra money?
For those big money making blogs, they have to keep it up or even paid someone to keep their blog alive. Once you stop blogging, your revenue will dramatically drop. Many of them seem doing well on their blog. However, blogging for money is not their primary income source.
Personally, I use my blog as a communication tool. I either use it to share thoughts with my readers or promote my own online business. I actually make more money from those online business.
At the end, all your viewers or readers care about are the content of your blog. My suggestion is to use your blog for bigger money. Get a big picture on how blog can help you to reach out the whole world. -
Making money through your blog isn't something blameworthy as long as it is done in moderate - non too invasive way.
Be very careful to not overload your site with big/flashy advertisements since this can drive regulars away and always Strive to keep a balance between good content & advertisements.
As most people said correctly above , don't expect to earn too much - AdSense for most of us it just covers the monthly hosting bill!
e.g. My current "profit" is $0.5 / Month!
Take care!
