Prostitution is going to exist no matter what. The question is whether it can be policed and regulated so that the majority of prostitutes are not underage slaves with AIDS.
    1. kaushalpec
so u mean that prositution should be legalised all over the world?
    2. DrowseyMonkey
      Yes, I agree Dr. Jay.
    3. drjay1966
I think it should be legalized in places where the government is serious about regulating it and enforcing those regulations. I don't know if India is one of those places.
    4. BlondeConfessions
      i couldn't agree w/you more!

isn't it already legalized in India... i mean if u have some cash anything can be legalized
    1. kaushalpec
      it's not legalise in India..
ya but cash can make the difference
    2. DrowseyMonkey
Paying for something doesn't make it legal.

It should be legalized everywhere and at a minimum decriminalized. Brothels where women could work instead of the streets would provide a greater measure of security from angry dehumanizng Johns. They could also be unnionized. There are many positives to legalization.
    1. GFG
      yeah it's legal in singapore
    2. DrowseyMonkey
I agree ginger. But ... even legalized or decriminalized there would still be abuses ... sad but humans have a tendency to be nasty at times.
    3. aningeniousname
Yeah but it's best to legalise and minimize those abuses.
  4. Anok
OK, I read that and thought it said "legalized in Indiana:.

Yes, it should be legalized. Anywhere.
  5. gingerbeer25
@DM yes but there are abuses in all industries... I am in favor of making life easy for sex trade workers. Anything that cuts down the violence that they must confront daily.

Overall, the emphasis of laws regarding prostitution needs to be shifted toward protecting the victims--the prostitutes themselves who are beaten by both johns and pimps--whereas now, in most countries, including the US, it's the victims who are prosecuted.

Just get married, you can have all the sex you want. Why legalize it. Men who pay for prostitutes are desperate. Goes for women who get with male hos...same concept.

Hmmmm, if they legalize prostitution then how would that work on the job market and it’s many aspects, would you be turned down for unemployment benefits if you refuse to apply for a job in prostitution. Or not able to receive state aid, welfare or whatever it may be called, because you refuse to take a job as a prostitute.
Just some questions running through my mind, after reading this thread.
  10. gingerbeer25
You are already penalized for not "adequately" looking for work so I don't see how legalizing prostitution effect this. No matter what job you do as long as it is paid labor it is exploitation.
  11. csiunatc
Check your facts, It isn't legal in Sweden. Selling, or in other words Being a prostitute is legal. Buying the services of a prostitute is illegal.
  12. ttiger
prostitution should be legal and controlled all around the world
  13. gingerbeer25
csiunatc and I believe that is another good approach to this issue. The women are the vulnerable ones in this situation and they should not be the ones who are legally penalized.
  14. chrisc324
My concern is not the legality but rather the quality of the prostitutes. The only hot ones in the business charge a fortune or do porn.

The thing is that the expensive call girls really don't like the idea of a hookup with the likes of a Eliot Spitzer. I wouldn't be happy getting paid $5,000 to have a trist with Nancy Pelosi so I can't imagine it being any better on the other side of the gender fence.

Those expensive call girls would hook up with the average Joe if he had more money. Let's be honest here.

What we need are government subsidies so the average guy can buy a prostitute that doesn't look like Charlize Theron in Monster.

wat about the gals who are poor and sold by their parent for few bucks??
      u won't find any hot
  15. kaguvkov

u said the F word twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. bladeaxe4
nops, no legalization just increases its rate and maybe legalizing wud decrease it but anyhow not permissible for itz not a personal thing but rather appeals to many at once soooo never know !
  18. blog4net
Whether you make it legal or not, it will be there. Even if govt. helps poor women to get out of prostitution, there are many people who can threaten them and compel them to prostitution. The fight against it should be multi-pronged.
    1. kaushalpec
      i agree with u

    Prostitution should be legalized everywhere.
We need the extra income tax.
    1. howisbradley
Absolutely prostitution should be legalized. Imagine all the income passed around that isn't taxed.

Much more importantly, making it legal will mean it's regulated which is safer for all involved.
    2. ekim941
There's more than income being passed around. But, why should I have to pay 15% of my income when the hookers don't have to just because their job isn't legal? Who is really getting "screwed"?
  20. timethief
I agree with Bradley and Ekim
IMHO prostitution should be legalized everywhere. Those who choose this profession would then be taxed on their income like the rest of us. And legalizing their occupation will mean it will regulated which will make it safer for all involved.

Banning prostitution is the same like banning wine
  22. DarkAngelMe
You mean it's illegal? when did that happen??
    1. kaushalpec
      in INDIA.. not indiana..
  23. rockaclimba
one of the oldest business of our planet should be legalized and shuld have rights and protection. Right now this is one great hell in India and HIV is a small thing, think about how many kids are coming into this !
