Oh spare me. Let me draw a picture that visually represents a measurement of physics calculations (as the calendar does) and see if I can get people in an uproar because I ran out of paper.
-
baiting thread - I may not have the term right.
It's a thread that starts with something calculated to stir outrage, and/or intense (and poorly-reasoned) responses.
In politics, it might be:
Obama likes watermellon! or McCain will kill your grandmother!
I shouldn't joke. Those might actually show up.
There are others, and 'the world will end' is the sort of emotion-laden topic that fits the pattern.

all u may telling of the proofs of calculations and graphs..
BUT did they make sense today??
in 2007..we are living in science age.....
but if any valid proof please show on my blog..as my friends eger to know it clearly and valid-
On the off chance that you're serious about this:
The Mayan Calendar thing is the most recent of dozens of 'end-of-the-world' fads that I've encountered.
If you're genuinely worried, don't be.
These things seem to follow a pattern:- The end of the world is coming in so-many years (generally, less than 10, but more than 1 or 2)
- There is PROOF!!!!!
- And you can read all about it in my book
It's not a bad scam, for someone who wants to sell books and isn't burdened by a conscience.
That didn't take long: I found a book, "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness" - the author may be sincere, but my observation about the 'end of the world' stuff stands.

I work with Mayans in Guatemala and many don't even "believe" in the Mayan calendar as a great many are Catholic, Protestant, Charismatic or Pentecostal. In fact, the irony is that your apt to find to find a greater percentage of "new age" gringos who "believe" in the Mayan calendar than Mayans themselves.
Although I don't "believe" in the Mayan calendar, I find the Mayan religion and folklore interesting, especially as I've been working amongst and helping Mayan communities. -
Bah! The end of the world is always nigh. I say, if it isn't willing to commit to being imminent, then I've got better things about which I can worry. [Mutters under breath about commitment-phobic apocalypse.] [Turns on the news to see if any nasty asteroids have been discovered in the last five minutes.]

Space aliens may get us first.
The attack has already begun: "Under attack: The owner of a house struck five times by meteorites fears aliens are targeting him" www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=5...
Beware! Beware!
(his floating hair! and weave a circle 'round him thrice, for he on honeydew has fed, and drunk the milk of paradise) -
asteriods will come by 2029
but that is far
predicted by a scientist
but thats not the question here
its abt mayan calender -
Being human we are easily manipulated and controlled by fear. The 2012 controversy is no exception. The Mayan calendar is a day calendar, and we can gain much from the understanding of each glyph and its interaction with the number days. What do we gain from this? A focus on the moment, who and what we are right now. Make the most of what you are today. The body is temporary, whether its time ends collectively in 2012 is not for us to choose (individually). mayancalendar.yinyangpower.com

Mayan had predicted a lot of the occurences that has been happening throughout life. Such as the great depression and the world wars. On the calender 2012 the line completely drops off the charts. some people think the world will end. but maybe it will end for the MAYAN CIVILIZATION. Not ours. There has been over 600 hundred world ending predictions (including y2k and 1999) and yet we are still here today. The bible also states that "No man can determine the hour or day the world will end". Yet that it's in the old testament. (= We'll all be here celebrating XMAS on 2012

Well, we believe in the Gregorian calender (what we use today) and the Mayan calender was over 100 times more accurate than the Gegorian calender. Strange but true. Their long count calender knew the exact date of the lining up of our solar system with our Milky Way galaxy's center point. This occurs only once every 26,000 years. Now, the Mayan never said that the world would somehow be destroyed. However, it was a point of transformation for them. The larger question for me is WHERE did they get this advanced knowledge from? The Mayan people didn't even have the wheel yet? Strange but true.
