Since coming back from my vacation I have noticed that BC's servers are incredibility slow. My technical advisor advises me that the problem is not with my computer or with my ISP. I have no problems with slow loading time on the other sites I go to, but after signing in to BC I've been grinding my teeth waiting for my profile page or the discussion to load. I have left a shoutbox message for thegoodknife asking: "Is there some reason for this at your end?"

Are any other members experiencing this also?

It was just down for about 20 mintues...but other than that it's been okay ... maybe a bit slow.

TT, I am too but I am so new I thought perhaps this is the way this site is. I have FIOS, which is very fast--so I didn't think it was me.

    I think its ISP problem.

My techy went over my computer this morning and then visited all the sites I usually visit. He had zero problems with page loading time until we tried BC. The delay only occurs after I login and try to access either my profile page or the discussion forum.

It's possible that thegoodknife and Nine are busily doing something that results in hogging server juice so that's why I left him a shout.

I repeat that I do not have this problem on any other sites - this is not an ISP problem.

I agree, it does go pretty slow sometimes. Its actually going pretty slow right now. I think their servers might be hurting to keep up with the overuse in bandwith, their popularity is their achilles heel, haha. Thats my only guess.

If Blogcatalog is hosted by other hosting companies than they have no hand or cannot alter anything there. It happen often-Both the hosting server and the ISP- These are to be blame

I could chew a stick of gum, ladened with sarcasm, waiting for the pages on BC to load. What's happening? And who let you go on vacation? No one let me go on vacation. Hope you had a great time.

    @Theresa11
    You made me lol.

I had a great time on vacation despite the concussion and severe muscle tearing that were the results of my fall and the time I had to spend in hospital. In time the symptoms (blurry vision, foggy thinking, migraines, irritability) will heal as will the muscles.

Remarkably, ever since I posted this the page loading time has picked up. Hmmmm .......

Hells Bells, TT! What in the world did you do to yourself? Did you try whale riding and get thrown? Glad to know someone is having an exciting summer. What ... all I have been up to lately is having a painful but hysterically fun bout with shingles and no air conditioning on and off for a week, before I got a new heat pump. Yes ... Cha ching! Did I do a scramble dance for the money? You should have seen me figure that one out. Ha.

But I am so happy to have you laughing out loud. Perhaps I should try stand up comedy.

That was my first guess too ... lol

Wow, really? This is so weird, because I was just thinking how BC loads so much faster than a lot of other sites I visit. Seriously, it's pretty quick on my computer.

Now watch ... it'll probably freeze on me now.

Its always slow for me when I click to go back on my profile page, but discussions have been pretty whizzy.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
whizzy? I'm guessing you mean fast. Not as in taking a whiz...LOL.
    2. crpitt
I try not to whizz myself when sat at the computer.

Unfortunately I chose the wrong word! whizzy4you.com/

Wow..never heard of that, lol. But I can see where it would come in handy when having to use a port-a-potty.

Apart from being servers being bogged down by incessant traffic at BC's, there can be lot more factors involved, if you want to really make out of this, you can check whether the problem is only for loading BC pages or with some other sites too with heavy content such as CNN.

And also it will not be the ISP problem either, but some sites are still difficult to access as you are referring to the after login pages at BC's.

You need to quick scan spamming cookies which are mostly third party cookies, though they don't pose imminent danger, but often choke your traffic getting in and out of your system, you might have already noticed this.

If your scanning software warns you of the threat from such cookies, remove them.

I have a mid speed DSL and the Blogcatalog Discussion pages,as well as links from them have been loading slow some days.
    other days they are fine.

Has anyone having problems thought to clear cookies and then logging in to blogcatalog?
  14. timethief
I have repeatedly force loaded my firefox 3 browser and cleared my cookies. BTW thegoodknife did reply to me. He said that they were running maintenance programs and that he couldn't account for the slowness.

It's way better fro me now so I'm suspecting DOTA. lol
  15. Theresa111
So ...? What happened? I responded and I have to know. Oh the suspense ....

Instead of clearing cookies by yourself, you could rely on some specialist software for these types of scans, there will be some cookies still left some where in your system, which do not necessarily get noticed, even if you open the cookies folder and check by yourself. Some times they are hidden.

or You could go for double scan by two or three specialised softwares, since some Trojans are detected by some softwares and some aren't, what with thousands of Trojans and Viruses hitting the web each day, it's a day in and day out battle out there.

Thanks those are astute suggestions. My techy was in today and he did everything under the sun.

Yeah, I have become a bit vigilant as I have been a victim quite often of these marauding web worms.

The actual irony is, at times I still get fooled around by slower bandwidth. When I believed that I am all fine, I found out things are never gonna be fine.....

Okay ... I give ... how did you hurt yourself in a fall? I asked before but you didn't see my comments. Whale riding?

Tomorrow I will tell my tale of woe on my personal blog. In a nutshell I fell off my deck and suffered several injuries. One was a head injury. It was a full body slam and my head impacted a large, immovable stoneware planter. I also have some severe and very painful muscle tearing in my legs. I made it through the wedding and then was hospitalized. Anyway I can't remember which thread we posted too originally - short term memory loss one of the symptoms. thistimethisspace.com
