Wow very nice there. I think you should start a photography blog. I have two of them myself.
  2. crkian
Nah, I will keep it as taking pictures. Photography is for the professionals
  3. timethief
    @crkian
All of them are really nice photos.
    1. crkian
Thanking you. Most of them the kids took, they got me to do the close ones. Got some great shots of them climbing trees.

I don't know anything about photography though really. I started a photography blog just on clouds. I never seen any online so I figure it was something different. Can't take a bad shot! ha
    1. crkian

    Chris

I just checked this as I am running out the door.

The image file size is too big for web. It's about 2.5MB, You might be better to shrink it and export as a smaller size.

    CREATE A DUPLICATE FIRST
    1. crkian
hmm, I thought I had shrunk them. Will have a check
    2. acousticguitarist
Do you know how to shrink them?
    3. crkian
I shrunk them slightly other than that nope without losing quality
    4. acousticguitarist
Yes you'll lose quality no doubt

but they are a bit heavy, go for a happy medium...maybe a thumbnail that points to the real one

wow very cool! Now go take some pictures of herbs for me...LOL

I like stuff that is close up so you have to guess what it is...
    1. carlgalloway
      You need pictures of herbs?
  10. robertstevenson
Very neat. I want to buy myself a new digital camera. Would you recommend the model you use?
  11. DocKC
WOW!!!! That picture is amazing! So sharp and crystal clear.
    Who would have thunk it??
How many other talents do you have that we didn't know about? Or did your little boy actually take that pic and you're taking the credit for it.
    1. crkian
      Thanks my lovely

  12. gosmelltheflowers
Cool flower smelling stuff and thanks for sharing Chris,

Do we smell another talent of yours here?
    1. crkian
I wouldnt call it a tallent I only just started

    Nice closeups.

What are you using to display the images Next and Previous? With Wordpress 2.5 you can bulk upload a folder of images and then place the code [gallery] and all the pictures you upload in one sitting is displayed as thumbnails automatically (or click that "upload gallery" button).

When I click the Next link, it reloads the page and the background doesn't show up for me by the time I want to scroll to the next picture image in the static slideshow.
    1. crkian
Nextgen gallery, I should have just used the gallery function but I thought I would give next gen a try. Something is conflicting with the images somewhere but i was to tired last night to look.
    2. PetLvr
thanks It's nice to see Nexgen still works at least in 2.5 .. I have it in 2 blogs still at 2.3.3. version.
    3. crkian
I have not found a plugin besides Link Directory that dont work with 2.5
    4. PetLvr
My semiologic related searches, posts, and feed entries crashed the system on v2.5+ ... However, for related posts I've switched to wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/

I've also been checking out rmarsh.com/plugins/ for related stuff too, but prefer the first link I listed above.

Great pictures I enjoyed looking at them. That camera takes some great clear shots.
  15. OzScot
crkian - do you post process them? Do you have photoshop?

    Ben
    1. crkian
      I do have photoshop

hey chris i saw a couple of pics, they are heavy to load so just a few but im not going to say anything of ur photograph skills but ill give u a couple of tips on image traffic

firstly get to the google webmaster tools and enable enhanced image search if u havent

Picture 042.jpg should be renamed to the-english-woods.jpg (best seo for images words-with-dashes)

    title="Digital Image"
title="Image Description" this is the mouse hover
    alt="Picture 042.jpg"
    alt="Picture Keywords" for seo

one final thing is if you plan on getting google image traffic there is just one draw back, this will drop your adsense earnings say you get 1000 impressions more in the long run just via image traffic, read abt it, image traffic converts much less, so it pushes ur ctr down which will push your cpm down as well. So if you want the traffic theres a price to pay.

I think putting pics on a photoblog and seperating them could be beneficial. Image traffic is usually to rob images, yopu rarely get link backs but its traffic and some of them may hopefully come back if the like what you write.

Haha Cheers all the best with your new camera i love photography.

    Regards,
    Clyde

Thanks, only whacked them up for the kids to see. But I may make it a little thing I do weekly.

I will work on your tips

    To be honest: "Not bad.."
At first glance, I thought you mixed the leaf and the mosquito by using photoshop

(You see, I said I would be honest - *Big Grins*)

    - Wakish -
    1. crkian
lol, I have the first one I took of it somewhere with it all out of focus. The bug just sat there so I could take the picture until the kids hit it with a stick.

Nice photographs....but I only got up to number 5, am on a very slow system and each one is taking about 3 minutes to load :-(
  19. umesh
    Good photographs.
File Size can be reduced by reducing image size and resolution - as you already know.
You can start a photo blog as mentioned and can build good traffic form search engines.I feel idea will work.
