I'll be working on a post for tomorrow regarding Social Media measurements like Google PageRank, Technorati authority, Alexa traffic, Feedburner subscriptions, Facebook friends, Twitter followers, return visitors, comment counts, and any combination of the aforementioned.
While useful, I provide a simpler equation: intent vs. outcome equals ROI.

However, I'd love to see what other people think and possibly include their input in tomorrow's post. What do you think? Are any measurements like those above worthwhile? Why?

A fair few have been thrown out of the window techonati, alexa, feedburner, facebook, twitter can all be manipulated to get to what you want. I think return visits is a good and page rank, also linkbacks to your posts are an example of good measurements.

Imho, all of the measurements you mention can be worthwhile to be aware of, however I think for Most bloggers who have not yet established a large readership and built a solid base of well-tagged content for search engines to find often get very distracted by all of these measurements and allow themselves to become focused on these metrics when they would be Much better served by keeping their focus on creating and maintaining a good blog.

I just want to thank everyone for their input. I really helped me flush out the post today. So I included your comments, as well as Mark Stoneman's in my post today (with links to at least one of your blogs) about developing a working social media equation of sorts. Thank you!
