Hello all.

I'm looking for a free Web site that has sound effects that I can use for a new blog that I'm thinking of creating.

Basically, I'm trying to find a sound or wave file of frying for free. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

OK gang, I have another question now. I have the sound that I wanted and its on my blog, however, how can I only have the sound play on the home page of my blog when people first go on it and not have it play on my other pages (such as other postings)?

    Thanks!

    Just Google:

    free sound files download

    or free wav files

then Convert them to mp3's to make them smaller

I hope you have a button that allows people to turn off the sound! I absolutely HATE blogs and sites that blast sound at me unexpectedly...and I don't have to worry about people in other cubicles knowing I'm doing something other than work with my PC.

Please do all of your potential readers a favour and make the sound optional...let the blog open in silence and give them a button to click if they want to hear it. I never go to a noisy blog or site a second time.

I totally agree, but for a different reason. Most of the time I brows the net I do it while listening music. Any sound effect or music that starts on a web page without me pressing a play button, makes me look for the close tab button. I would recommend having the sound turned off by default. I know this is not an answer to your question. What kind of platform do you use for that blog?

Never, under any circumstance, should a sound play on a blog, website or anything unless the user wants it to. Just because it's clever, does not mean it should be done. Think about how many people listen to music while they browse the internet, especially sites with a lot of reading involved (for example...blogs)? Yeah, bad idea, imo.

It's actually a low sound of about 10 seconds, but I see what you guys are saying. I do hate blogs and Web sites that blast loud music or sound. But, is there any way to get the sound to only play on the home page of my blog and none of the other pages?

Also, what do you guys suggest I use to have the sound play automatically, but have a button to stop it any time a reader wants?

Suppose you work in a cube farm and for some reason unknown to you, the sound on your PC is turned up louder than you usually keep it. Now, imagine taking a wee break from your labours to do a Google search on some compelling subject and you find what looks to be a fascinating site. Click on the site and...10 seconds of a low sound, played loudly enough to awaken the sleeping managers in the offices ranged along the windows, comes booming out of your PC, causing heads to pop up above cubicle walls all over the department.

How long does it take you to find the volume control on your PC, the "quit" button on the screen, or the "sound off" button on the site? Doesn't matter, does it? The damage is already done.

My opinion of sounds on websites and blogs? NEVER. But if you absolutely MUST, then allow the page to open silently and give the reader the choice of cueing the sound or not.

Weblogian, in my other blog, The Times Observer, I have a feature called "What Burns My Bacon."

I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I decided to turn that feature into its own blog. So now I have a picture of bacon frying and a low frying sound for about 10 seconds when you first get onto the blog.

I thought it would be cool to do, but I do realize that some blogs have very loud, annoying sounds or music. I only want the sound to play when someone goes to the home page and not the other pages, but I realize now that having some type of an off button would be great.

There isn't a lot on there now, but maybe some of you guys can check it out and tell me what you think about the sound.

Sdmahesh06, unlike other's, I'm not going to report you for spamming. However, while I don't mind signatures to your blog at the end of your posts, because I certainly do it, at least make your posts something about the actual topic like I do.

Now, since you do Software Testing, do you have any suggestions to my questions about my new blog?
