Been reading South Texas is suffering a serious heat wave. Water table is at historic lows.

Any Southern Texans on BC? How long has this heat wave been lasting. Has your access to water been restricted?

Are there other areas in the US where there is drought?

Good citizens are taking measures to conquer this drought. More in due time.

It's been 100 degrees or more for the past 3 weeks I think and in that time I think we had about 10 minutes of rain. There are restrictions on watering your lawn. I think right now you can only water once a week between 8 pm and 5 am, or something like that. I don't own a pool, but I'm sure there are restrictions on filling pools and other non-essential types of water use.

It's pretty hot in my corner of the Mediterranean, but water reservoirs are adequate, and we had a good 5 hour downpour a week ago.

If all goes according to plan, good rain to come shortly in South Texas

It's definitely hot. As was said, in the 100's most days for the past month. We have burn bans along with water restrictions. Hopefully we'll get some rain soon. We surely need it.

If we could just deliver the rain there. It has been raining here for a week and I'm tired of the wet weather.

I remember the monsoon season in Korea. I also remember the stifling heat. Gah.

I have stopped watering all together. My slogan is that I'm going brown to go green. Check out my sad little yard: twitpic.com/afqf1

Awe, good for you Jay. You could install a gray water irrigation system. That recycles waste water from sinks (gray water)and showers to water your lawn. If you google "gray water irrigation" you could probably find something.

Of course, this means, no peeing in the shower, or putting anything toxic down the drain.

but i love peeing in the shower

I went there in the late 90s and it seems like it was very dry also.
I like to move there one day but probably outside of Dallas or Austin. I better bring plenty of water:)

I live in Houston...yea there is a lot of heat...but it rained monday..I didn't realize this was national news...
    1. harveyavatar
haha, not national news, though some orgonite was shipped from state to state
    2. harveyavatar
yep, I didn't realize it had already rained on Monday. Reportedly, they initially had a 20 per cent chance of rain call, before hiking it in extremis to 70 per cent. Did the same for today. Things should be looking greener by the end of the week

We got some rain here in SA last night, pretty heavy in areas. My house just got a little bit of light rain though.
