Sponsored Reviews. What’s the point of them?

As an advertiser I can see the value. Pay five bucks, get a link. Cheaper than AdWords, easier than affiliate networks. But as a reviewer, what is the point of writing a paid review? Getting discredited by google for paid links, losing PR, losing respect from your readers for sending them to a crap site that paid you a buck, etc. Granted, some reviews pay more, but generally speaking paid reviews are cheap. Why do people do them? Is it really worth it?

I stayed away from this, as I did with sponsored posts for other things, because I didn't like ripping off the people who were reading my blogs by inserting posts about things I was being paid to push.
Telling people it was a sponsored post helped a little, but nobody really wanted to read the stuff because they knew it was just an ad in disguise.

I honestly haven't lost anything by doing paid reviews. My PR is the same, my readership is exponentially increasing and the opps I'm being offered are gradually getting higher.
I'm pretty positive I've lost nothing.
Oh, and don't call me "dear". It's a term of endearment and nothing has happened between us that has been endearing.
