Anyone makes them? How do you promote them? I've made a few lenses and so far I've had zero views LOL

I've joined squidoo groups, etc. still nothing

Are you trying to make money with them?

I'm not really sure what the attraction is for Squidoo sites .. I don't ever read them or visit them. I thought they were used to drive traffic to other sites?

I am trying to use it to promote my blog, but it doesn't seem to work at all

from my understanding. it's mainly to get links back to you site. i doubt you can make any type of consistent income from squidoo. or any type of worthwhile traffic.

I honestly don't understand the concept of suqidoo lenses, except they all look like blogs with very narrow niches.

What are the other purposes of a squidoo-lens ?

I missed this thread last week, so I apologize for bringing it back so late. I've got, between two accounts, 65 lenses. None of them make squat for sales (I think I've had three total in the last 16 months), but they're all like expanded blog posts about subjects on which I don't blog. That's how I view them, with the added benefit that I can update them with new information (or added info) whenever I want instead of having to create a new post and link back to the old one. I have 50 music lenses, loosely tied in with my much newer music blog. I look at them as a way to establish my knowledge of a subject and increase my on-line presence rather than as a source of income.

I do get a fair amount of traffic from the one promoting my blog, likely because it's almost all links to the posts, organized by topic. It took forever for that one to start getting traffic, but now it's got a steady trickle and is one of my best sources for my blog, even better than BC here, and most coming through Google and Yahoo searches. People do make good money there, but usually through promoting them a whole lot more than I want to bother doing.

I too don't understand Squidoo. I only just learned of Squidoo recently.

A friend made a Squidoo lense for me and posted it yesterday, or I guess I should say about me. It is very interesting to see yourself from someone else's perspective.

Sounds like a strange concept. I don't think I would have time to promote me blog using such as system.

I've done a few squidoo lenses - here is the latest one:

I think you need to get your lens listed at a social bookmarking site (like stumbleupon or digg, etc.) to help you get it viewed.

Also, for a real sense of how people use squidoo and other blogs to get their main blog or website to rank, you might check out the free website called the Thirty Day Challenge. It really is good and will teach you how to use the internet better to get traffic. www.ThirtyDayChallenge.com/challenge/2312

The challenge takes place every august but the content stays up on the site for the next year. I've done the last 2 challenges and they taught me so much and they were fun!

I agree social bookmarks think highly of lenses. This is mine

I have had a poetry lens running for about 3 weeks and i,ve had around 60 views and some of those viewers then went on to view my blog, so it can work.

I'm kinda on the fence about Squidoo. I've done a few lenses, (This being my latest: www.squidoo.com/imreportcard)but I don't really know if I want to continue with it. I find it a little intimidating.
