Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's an early post I blogged about. It's a really short post, but memorable time. Enjoy!

There's a link in the beginning of the post that has nice images of the place mentioned. Check it out. It was in the middle of where lots of cemeteries are in Norcal. My friend's say the weather and land reminded them of back home.

Wow, I loved all the costumes - I'm a costume kind of gal. Thanks for listing this fun post!

      And, to you!

I've never understood why St Pat's has become such a big deal. It never was when I was growing up, even with an Irish mother.

But then, it's my birthday tomorrow so I'm more focussed on that.
    1. MadMadMargo
      Awww, happy birthday to ye.
    1. MadMadMargo
      Great, thanks Amy.

Ah, St. Patricks' Day: green cookies, green cake, green beer. Me, I try to avoid green food.

My post compares St. Patrick's Day to Robbie Burns Day. Green beer and parades verses haggis and poetry.

Is it the reanimated corpse of Luciano Pavarotti escaping from his neo Frankensteinian creator on a Honda 250 with clutch problems?
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
      G-ah! You GUESSED!!
    3. aningeniousname
I don't think they could sell those Lucky puffs in England.
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
It's the first time I've seen the holiday SnoBalls renamed, too. It would be like renaming the Twinkie for one day of the year.

I don't know what they were thinking.
    5. aningeniousname
It's not so unusual every St Patrick's day I paint myself green and change my name legally to Seamus Shamrock Guinness O'Finnegan Murphy the third. I then spend the day doing Irish type things, eating potato's, growing a unibrow, riding horses through housing estates and exploding car bombs in London.
The next day I change it back to Dr Utopia P Mariachi and carry on with my normal life
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
Meh, we know you'd paint yourself green anyway, just for the fun of it. You aardvarks are like that.

I wrote a short history of St. Patrick's Day, talking about who St. Patrick is and why we wear green and eat corned beef and cabbage on this day! Check it out!

Sorry about the double post there!

My post would probably be 'when are people gonna stop funding the IRA?'
    1. MadMadMargo
      Better get busy then.
  10. samureyed
    I'll be drinking Irish tonight...
    1. MadMadMargo
Do you think Irish cops are more or less sympathetic today? Regardless, be careful out there!

    1. MadMadMargo
Very nice post. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
  12. CelebrityIcePop
Imagine the uproar if the English funded the 9/11 terrorists the way the Americans fund the IRA? I can't see that happening though as we in the Uk don't support terrorism.
    1. MadMadMargo
I suggest that you start a thread to discuss this matter - this is definitely not the place.
  13. CelebrityIcePop
I have done so already it's called 'do you support the IRA?'
    Thanks

I posted an "Irish drinking song", with a link to another - the song is from a guy who's actually Irish by heritage but born and raised in Minneapolis. The other is a novelty song by some Irish guys (as in "born and raised in Ireland" Irish), but it's about Barack Obama. not-pop-jukebox.com/2009/03/falling-down-trying-wookiefoot.html

These selections are truly in the spirit of St. Partrick's Day - give a listen!

    Very good topic
For the St. Patrick i have one funny video with cat, that wishes everyone a happy St. Patty's Day! Because his fur is orange, and he doesn't mind a little game of dress-up, he was the perfect subject for this short video
