Like most people who read Steve Palina's blog, I love the guy! His in-depth post on blogging and traffic is one of the best on the web.

However on one of these posts he says he didn't do much marketing at all and his blog grew from word of mouth. Can this be true?

To me, a website called stevepalina.com would need a lot of promotion.
