We woke up to a chilly house this morning. For good reason: the furnace had failed overnight. (More, at smalltowndad.blogspot.com/2008/12/im-sick-furnace-is-kaput-theres-storm.htm... ).

With the storms rolling across North America, and winter across the whole northern hemisphere, my guess is that other people have winter-related household issues, too.

So: Anybody have a kaput furnace? Storm trouble? Something else happening that's weather-related?

Or someone from the southern hemisphere who wants to make us north-hemisphere people wish we were there?

Actually the snow here is all gone, warmer, just raining, only mild storms. Doing good.

That would be west coast Oregon

    USA(for siralmo)who doesn't like maps

Good news: I haven't been to your part of the world, but read about the climate.

I still prefer North Dakota or Minnesota weather - but that's what I'm used to.

      siralmo,

      Thanks!

Now that you mention it, on the satellite maps they do look a bit like tumbleweeds, rolling along.

yes, but traditionally where i live its hot and sunny all day then rainy at night in spring, summer it's just hot and if your lucky there will be a bit of rain, winter it doesn't rain its just cold

average rainfall approx 50 days a year

Its 42 F in DC right now, and tomorrow's high will be 53 F, like today. Sunny too. Typical DC strangeness. We were down to 17 F last week.

That's one of the things I like about living near the frozen core of the continent: once we get winter, we generally keep winter.

All, thanks for the input - I'll be back in 12 hours or so. Right now, there's a project due: and I have got to get some sleep.
